Be sure your name is on both items.  Your substitute will count you off into 4 groups.  You will move to sit with this small group and share your project with them.  Then, you will hand in your project to the substitute. If you are missing your project, assignment sheet, or both today, please fill out the sheet on the clipboard to let me know.

2 35. Symbolism 12-10-12  A symbol is a person, image, or action that stands for something beyond itself.  Symbolism is the use of this in literature.  Example: In The Westing Game, Sydelle Pulaski’s crutch is a symbol of her need for attention.

13 What do these symbolize? How do you know?  Clock symbolizes  Leper symbolizes  Funeral symbolizes  Chains symbolize  Girl symbolizes  Pay attention to these symbols as we read!

14 What do these symbolize? How do you know?  Clock symbolizes that time is running out for Scrooge’s life, and time in general (like that the ghosts are coming).  Leper symbolizes Scrooge being an outcast.  Funeral symbolizes death, especially Scrooge’s death.  Chains symbolize being trapped by greed.  Girl symbolizes happiness and hope.
