Reasons to take Drama and Theatre Studies at High Storrs We are a high achieving school with a Performing Arts specialism AS A-B 58% A2 A*-B 33% We have excellent connections to Sheffield Theatres and many other professional companies and organisations We offer a firm grounding for those wanting to pursue careers in the arts and rich diversity in addition to other subject choices Students gain a basis for study in Drama and Theatre Studies at University. Last year students went on to LAMDA, Leeds University, and Liverpool John Moores University amongst other institutions. 3. Specification at a glance AS Examination Unit 1 Written exam 1½ Hours Live Theatre – Response to live theatre seen during the course. Prescribed Play – interpretation of set text from a performance perspective. 60% of total AS marks, 30% of total A Level Externally set and assessed.

4. Unit 2 Presentation of an extract from a Play Group performance of an extract from a published play Performance influenced by practitioners/directors/ designers studied Supported by a portfolio of notes Working in groups of 2-8 plus the option of directors and designers

5. A2 Examination Unit 3 Further Prescribed plays Written paper 2 hours Synoptic study of two set texts – One contemporary One Pre 20 th Century 30% of A Level Externally set and assessed

6. Unit 4 Presentation of Devised Drama Group performance of devised drama Performance to demonstrate a synoptic approach to the devised piece and a knowledge of theatrical style Supplemented by a portfolio of notes Working in groups of 2-8 plus the option of directors and designers
