4 What does BC stand for? BC stands for ‘Before Christ’
Any dates that are before Jesus Christ’s existed. This is considered to be the year 0.

5 What do we say instead of BC?
Instead of BC, everyone now writes BCE. BCE stands for Before common era. This makes it fair for everyone not just Christians in writing dates.

6 What does AD stand for? AD stands for “anno domini” which means “in the year of our lord” Any dates AFTER Jesus was alive are considered to be AD

7 What do we say instead of AD?
Instead of AD everyone now writes CE. CE stands for common era. This makes it fair for everyone not just Christians in writing dates.

8 TIMELINE TO EXPLAIN 12AD 33BC 12BC 30AD 2014 AD 33AD Jesus was born
Jesus was born Jesus started preaching Jesus died Today Jesus as a young boy Do you see that ‘AD’ CAN’T be ‘after death’ as all the dates from Jesus birth to when he died have AD next to the date. The dates can’t go Before Christ BC straight to AD – After death, as all of Jesus’ life is then ignored.

9 TIMELINE TO EXPLAIN 12CE 33BCE 12BCE 30CE 2014 CE 33CE Jesus was born
Jesus was born Jesus started preaching Jesus died Today Jesus as a young boy Now, the dates are the same and it does not necessary reflect Christianity. .
