9 F AIR U SE G UIDELINES I N S CHOOL Educational use is one of the prime examples of legitimate fair use. Fair use allows limited use of: Short Printed material Archived printed material Photograph Internet digital images Pre-recorded music Computer Software, sound & video files

10 U SE O F S HORT P RINTED M ATERIALS … Teacher may make multiple copies for classroom use and incorporate into multimedia for teaching Students may incorporate text into multimedia projects…

11 Q UICK C OPYRIGHT T IPS Limit use of copyrighted materials to your classroom Give proper credit When in doubt, get permission Use web whacker software carefully Assume it’s copy written!

12 C OMMANDMENTS Never Do! 1. Use a computer to harm other people 2. Interfere with other people’s computer work 3. Snoop around in other peoples files 4. Use a computer to steal 5. Use other people’s computer resources without permission

13 B EST P RACTICES Be practical about investment of your time and energy Practice using technology before you get to the classroom Schedule equipment ahead of time Be casual; have a backup plan Remember Dear Students
