3 Student Employment Interact with Student Financial Services, Human Resources and Payroll Students are limited in number of hours/week Maximum you can earn for the academic year is on your award letter Pre-employment paperwork (I-9, W4) 3

4 Student Employment Last year more than 1,600 students worked at least 1 hour/week Students held over 2,400 positions Students earned over $2.7 million during 2013-14 academic terms 4

5 Student Employment Work assignments were emailed to students in mid-August Don’t have a position? Can’t remember where you were placed? Who your supervisor is? Work amount is on your financial aid award & represents the maximum you can earn 5

6 Student Employment 8 hours/week; 10 hours/week subsequent years All positions pay $9.28/hour during the academic year 6

10 How to be a good employee Here are the basics: –Show up to work—you must work to get paid –Be on time –Communicate if you won’t be in or running late –Be presentable 10

11 How to be a good employee Here are the basics: –Ask about rules Headphones ok? Special clothing? Special rules? Can I use the internet? Can I use my phone? –Go to your “Meet Your Supervisor” on Friday at 3:00 to learn more 11

12 How to be a good employee Other things to know : No vacation, holiday or sick pay Breaks are required if you work more than four consecutive hours in a day If you get hurt on the job… Communicate, communicate, communicate Questions? 12

14 Student Payroll Tuition Authorization (optional process) Authorize a percent of earnings to be applied to your tuition account Both term and break earnings Enter and maintain percentage via The HUB 14

15 Bank Information Direct Deposit for payroll/wages –Log onto The HUB –Select “payroll bank account” –Enter and submit bank routing number and account number –Additional security criteria Date of birth and/or social security number 15

16 Bank Information continued Automatic deposit for non-payroll payments –Student refunds, awards, prizes –Log onto The HUB –Select “reimbursement bank account (non-payroll)” –Enter and submit bank routing number and account number –Additional security criteria Date of Birth and/or Social Security Number 16

17 Annual Wage and Tax Statement Form W-2 –Why it’s important? –Provide consent via The HUB –When you will receive your W-2? 17
