It is self-limiting illness In India the virus is producing milder illness and no fatality is reported so far It is an air borne disease and does not spread through food or drinking water The symptoms are similar to regular seasonal flu – fever, chills, body ache, headache, cough, sneezing,runny nose, throat pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, vomiting, loose motions Best way of prevention of any flu is to maintain good personal hygiene, to stay in good health with proper sleep, balanced diet with plenty fluids and exercise and reducing time spend in crowded places H1N1 Flu – The Facts

A person with respiratory symptoms and fever (1) within seven days of close contact with a person who is a confirmed case of H1N1 Flu (2) Within seven days of travel to community where there are confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu (3) who resides in a community where there are confirmed case of H1N1 Flu Who is a close contact? Anyone who comes within three feet of a confirmed case and remains there for at least an hour What is the treatment? The treatment for a confirmed case is isolation and Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) tablets. Alcohol based hand gels can be used Avoid touching mouth, nose and eyes When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper / handkerchief and wash your hands afterwards Avoid being near others who might be sick with flu like illness Three layered mask should be used if a person comes in contact with suspected, probable or confirmed case of H1N1 flu Contact Naidu Hospital or Helpline (020-20250050) if fever lasts for more than three days, shortness of breathing and link or contact with infected person is established H1N1 Flu - Precautions

If suffering from fever and flu like symptoms… Consult family physician immediately for treatment and testing advise Remain at home for one week to ten days till all symptoms resolve and then only resume school or work Avoid visiting common, crowded places and remember 3 C,s Clean, Cover and Contain Advisory to travelers… Visit the family physician at least six weeks prior to departure. Immediately seek medical advise if fall sick while traveling.
