1 MOST RELIABLE COMBINATION MASTER VALVE, WATER METER AND FLOW SENSOR
HYDROMETERS MOST RELIABLE COMBINATION MASTER VALVE, WATER METER AND FLOW SENSOR Introduction slide—important to stress the reliability of product—three year warranty which is not matched by competitors 1-year

2 HYDROMETERS Combination - Flow sensor - 1½” and 2” are threaded
- Master valve - Water meter - Flow sensor Available sizes 1½” to 8”: - 1½” and 2” are threaded - 3” to 8” are flanged Accommodate flow ranges from 1.8 gpm to 1500 GPM 3” Hydrometer Important to stress this is a: 1) Master valve 2) water meter that you could read 3) Flow sensor which can hook up to central control systems Note: 1.5” comes with coupling set and 2” is female 2” npt threads—3” to 8” is ansi standard flanges Major selling point is it saves space Stress the sizes and flow range that the Hydrometers can accommodate 1.8 gpm to 1500 gpm. 1 1/2” Hydrometer

3 HOW THEY WORK

4 APPLICATIONS MASTER VALVE, FLOW SENSOR COMBINATION
Ideal for places where space is limited Requires no straight pipe upstream or downstream for accurate measuring-- ± 2% in accuracy Fully compatible with most central control systems Available configurations: - Manual Electric Normally Closed (-MEL) - Manual Electric Normally Open (-MEL-NO) - Pressure Reducing Electric Normally Closed (-PRMEL) - Pressure Reducing Electric Normally Open (-PRMEL-NO) Important point: combination Master valve and can be pressure reducing manual electric and Manual electric or any other combination of valve configuration that we now offer in our valves—call for cost. Most important point: save space as you do not have the straight pipe requirement of other flow sensors which is 10 D upstream and 5 D downstream—Example is a 4” flow sensor will require 40 inches before the sensor and 20 inches after. This will also require the installation and costs associated of the master valve--- Savings are cost of installation and installation hardware--

5 APPLICATIONS FITS NICELY INTO A STANDARD VALVE BOX
Reinforce the space savings and installation savings— Thee most important points are savings: Space! Space! Space!

6 HYDRAULIC VALVE PERFORMANCE
Precision hydraulic valve and water meter in a single unit Perfect as a master valve and flow sensor Saves space and installation costs Rugged heavy duty construction Reinforce the savings of space: Self explanatory 3” Hydrometer

7 HYDROMETER FEATURES Double chamber valve for positive opening and closing – no springs required 6” Hydrometer is single chamber Adding pilot valves and solenoids enables remote and automatic operation Hermetically sealed register – just one part touches water Optional control functions - Manual Electric - Pressure reducing manual electric - Other configurations upon request Double chamber valve—has an extra chamber below the main top chamber—this gives the top chamber more of an advantage in closing and does not require a spring as a single chamber valve does—the top chamber also has a reduced volume and requires less water to close the valve—this makes the valve quicker reacting—double chamber valves react more quickly and smoothly in general. Registers are completely sealed and guaranteed not to fog or get moisture Hydrometers can be configured as Manual electric or pressure reducing manual electric—or any other configuration that we can now do with any of our other valve line—call factory if you have other questions.

8 HYDROMETER FEATURES Straightening vanes allow compact installation
Upper and lower valve chamber Straightening vanes Impeller Hermetically sealed register in a dry compartment Straightening vanes allow compact installation - no upstream or downstream straight pipe requirements Low head loss Ideal for high pressure applications Important points: 1—all the water must pass through straightening vanes and passed the impeller—the impeller covers the throat of the valve which provides accuracy and excellent leak detection as the water can not leak past the impeller. 2) The impeller is the only wet part of the metering unit—magnets drive the fully sealed register

9 HYDROMETER SPECIFICATIONS
Pont out compact installation and savings in pipe—this is stainless steel pipe! The hydrometers are also configured to be pressure reducing, manual electric. Note: Minimum working pressure is required to close the hydrometer such that it will not leak—if no pressure upstream then the hydrometer will leak or all the water in the pipe upstream will leak down—for secure leak tight closure the upstream pressure must be maintained above 14psi—this is for all hydraulic valves

10 INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Must install upright Pipeline should be thoroughly flushed before installation No straight pipe installation requirements Install proper size and type of air vents to eliminate air Point out that air vents are very important to proper metering—in general it is important to have a combination large acting and continuously acting air vent of proper size and location installed upstream of the hydrometer. 3” Hydrometer Straight Pipe Install: Upstream: 0 x D Downstream: 0 x D

11 METER REGISTER WITH PULSE OUTPUT
Pulse output is standard Allows for communicating with most central controllers, data loggers, and monitoring equipment Self explanatory

12 PULSE OUTPUT MODELS AVAILABLE
Register with Reed Switch Low frequency “dry contact” using a reed switch - 1 or 10 gallons per pulse Photo diode—higher frequency than dry contact by a factor of to 1 gallon pulse High frequency photo diode provides from 10 to 200 pulses per second (depending on the flow rate) Dry pulse: Uses a magnet to activate a reed switch—simple switch closure and provide a pulse— Photo diode output: Uses a small LCD light to create a light beam which is broken by a small crown and produces a pulse—referred to as an “open collector” output High frequency is possible and is compatible with most controllers that accept data industrial output signal. Note: point out the register type: RS: Reed switch and gives “dry contact” standard pulse output is 1.5” to 3” is 1 gallon/pulse and 4” to 8” is 10 gallon/pulse Other output is also available—1.5” to 3” 1, 10, 100 gallon pulse is available—3” to 8” 10, 100, 1000 gallon pulse available. Photo diode: Photo diode and reduces the pulse resolution by a factor of 10—that provides 1.5” to 3” 0.1 gallon/pulse and 3” to 8” 1 gallon/pulse PDH—Photo diode High frequency—will provide the highest resolution and give between 3 pulse/second and 200 pulse/second depending on the flow rate. Register with Photo Diode Output

13 RECOMMENDED REGISTER OUTPUT
Note: point out the register type: RS: Reed switch and gives “dry contact” standard pulse output is 1.5” to 3” is 1 gallon/pulse and 4” to 8” is 10 gallon/pulse Photo diode: Photo diode and reduces the pulse resolution by a factor of 10—that provides 1.5” to 3” 0.1 gallon/pulse and 3” to 8” 1 gallon/pulse PDH—Photo diode High frequency—will provide the highest resolution and give between 3 pulse/second and 200 pulse/second depending on the flow rate.

14 HYDROMETER PERFORMANCE DATA
Point out accuracy vs. flow rate—this will drastically reduce false alarms over other much less accurate flow sensors—especially in low flow conditions as some flow sensors will not even show flow rate below 1 ft/sec. Maximum flow rates are for design flow rate 1½” Globe Hydrometer 3” Globe Hydrometer

15 WHY USE A HYDROMETER SAVES SPACE ACCURACY ACROSS A WIDE FLOW RANGE
Combination master valve, water meter and flow sensor all in one unit Does not require any upstream or downstream straight pipe for proper function. ACCURACY ACROSS A WIDE FLOW RANGE Accuracy is ±2% across the entire flow range—offset is = 0 WATER METER CANNOT LOOSE DATA Standard with odometer register
