5. Recess  Students are required by law to receive 90 minutes of physical education and movement per week.  This requirement is met in Physical Education with Coach Smith.  Fourth grade students attend gym 3 times per week for 45 minutes each session.  Recess is not a right or guarantee! Recess is a privilege and has to be earned by students.  If teachers determine 10-15 min time period is better spent in instruction, there will be a loss of some recess to loss of full recess.  Your child’s education and safety are our foremost concern!

Tops:  Polo-styled shirts  Button down Oxford style shirt  T-shirts with college or JISD campus spirit logo  Must be tucked in at all times unless the shirt hem is square and no longer than six inches below the waistline.  Bottoms:  Pants, slacks, jeans, capris, skirts, skorts, dresses and walking shorts (Capri pants are defined as those pants that start at the waistline with length extending to and between the calf and ankle).  Pants must fit at the waist and be properly hemmed or cuffed at or below the ankle, but not dragging the ground (“slicing” or “ragging” not allowed). Belts must be worn and appropriately sized with garments designed for belts (i.e. belt loops).  Walking shorts, skirts, dresses and skorts must be knee length or longer.  Revealing or excessively tight garments (tops, stretch pants and leggings) are prohibited. 7. Grading Policy Daily Assignments – 40% Quizzes/Assessments- 50% Homework – 10% 1 grade per content area per week and 2 assessment grades per 6 weeks **Not all work is given a numeric grade. English Language Arts - Reading We will investigate the following concepts: Readers workshop-invitational groups, active reading and word work Exploring various genres that they will be exposed to on STAAR test. Using metacognitive strategies for Active Reading to enhance fluency and comprehension. Literacy/Homework bags Motivate students about Reading and getting into their books at school and at home!

English Language Arts - Writing 4 th Grade Writing STAAR  2 written compositions - Narrative and Expository  Multiple choice focused on revising and editing questions Homework  Weekly homework will focus on a variety of skills. It will be assigned Monday and is due Friday. Grade Scale  Homework counts as 10% of final grade.  Daily classroom work consists of 40% of final grade.  Test/Projects consist of 50% of final grade.

13. Safety and Miscellaneous Volunteer Training: You must have completed online training AND have been cleared through the district in order to attend field trips or help out in the classroom.
