1 E-Safety in School What can we do?

2 First Filter The school's internet first goes through the Yorkshire and Humber Grid for Learning (YHGFL). This provides the first stage of filtering as they block a large amount of inappropriate websites. Second Filter At the school we then utilise Censornet which is an internet filtering software proxy which allows us to control and filter the student's web access even further. This allows us to block and filter the student's access to inappropriate web content that has not been picked up by YHGFL, e.g. game websites, social networking, etc. As soon as websites that are not on the current block lists are reported by staff they can be added to the block list to prevent further acce ss. If required this software can provide reports of a student's internet activity. Third Filter We also employ another monitoring and filtering system called Policy Central which allows us to monitor all computer use. This system automatically captures and reports any inappropriate use of the computers and internet. This information is stored so that if an incident has occurred staff can then review the data and act accordingly.
