Converting a Percent to a Decimal
Hint: When you remove the percent symbol (%), you must divide by “100.” Divide by “100” by using the shortcut of moving the decimal point two places to the left. If no decimal point appears, insert one to the right of the last digit; then move it two places to the left.
Procedure: To convert a percent to a decimal
Step 1: Rewrite without percent symbol. Move the decimal point two places to the left. Insert leading zeros if necessary.

5. Converting a Percent that Contains a Fraction to a Decimal
If the percent contains a fraction, i.e. 7¾%, we need to convert the fractional part to a decimal. Since ¾ = 0.75, 7¾%=7.75%. Then we can convert the percent to a decimal by moving the decimal point two places to the left and dropping the percent symbol.
