2 How to Use This CBT The following graphics are designed to help you to navigate through this Computer Based Training. The navigational guides require a single mouse click and may appear in different areas of a slide but, the majority are located on the right side of the screen. Some slides may have additional information that has been timed to appear on the slide. You may want to make sure you have given time for this to occur before proceeding to the next slide. There is a Content slide with hyperlinks to topics covered in this CBT that may be helpful if a review of a specific topic is desired. If you experience any problems viewing or navigating this CBT please contact the DCS Help Desk. Return to the Content Page Proceed to the next slide. Mouse click will also proceed. EXIT Return to the previous slide Exit the CBT.

3 To Print this CBT If you would like to print this CBT: Return to the DCS web page. Right click on the link to the CBT and choose “Save Target As…” Choose a location on your computer to save the file and click OK. Go to Start, Programs, Microsoft PowerPoint. Choose “Open an Existing Presentation”. Choose the CBT file that you saved above. Choose File, Print from the menu. EXIT

4 Overview Trial Home Visit is another in-home placement type and should only be used when a client is returned home to be placed with his/her caretaker as a trial visit before being permanently released from DCS custody. A caretaker must be specified and is considered to be one of the following: Relative, God Parent, Friend, Neighbor, Church Member, Minister or Teacher. There is no daily payment rate associated with this placement type. A client can be placed in the home of a Birth Parent of any age if the case manager approves the Birth Parent’s parenting skills. EXIT

6 Placement Icon The user will double click on the Placements Icon located at the case detail line. EXIT

7 Adding a Trial Home Placement To enter a new placement right click and select ‘Add Placement Location’. EXIT

8 Add Placement Location The user will select ‘New Placement Location’ and click OK. EXIT

9 Add Placement Location The user will select ‘In- Home’ and click OK. EXIT

10 Select Placement Type EXIT The user will enter the date and select ‘Trial Home Visit’ from the Placement Type drop down list.

11 Select Significant Role EXIT The user will choose the correct Role from the drop down list.

12 Select Client’s Caretaker EXIT The user will click on the ellipsis box next to ‘Location’ and then select the Client’s Caretaker from the pop-up screen.

13 Previous Placement Program Completed The system will enter the Service setting, AFCARS, Location, Address and ID information. The user will Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ from the Completed drop down list. The user will then click OK. Please refer to the Discharge Reasons training document. EXIT

14 Completed Trial Home Placement The placement is added to the client’s record. The user will also notice six additional tabs. These tabs are read only for the case manager. EXIT

15 Reports There are no reports specific to this placement type although many existing reports will report on this new placement type.
