8 Health Check Visits

9 Each school is entitled to a half day on site with a SIMS expert The visiting consultant will have a minimum of 5 years appropriate experience in the use and support of SIMS and be able to answer any questions you may have about the system

10 Health Check Visits The purpose of the visit is to baseline the use of the MIS in each school provide school leaders with a view of ways in which better use of the system can improve and streamline processes in school.

11 Health Check Visits One half day is not a lot to cover all that SIMS can do and the school will have priorities for discussion In order to focus discussion, schools are asked to complete a form prior to arranging the visit http://www.osmisschools.com/audit/

23 Course Manager and Post 16 Learning Aims 24 th April – full day At the end of this course delegates will be able to: Manage course definitions with regard to the relationship between course manager and other areas of SIMS Work with an understanding of examination awards and courses of study linking examination awards to courses of study managing the Post 16 Learning Aims processes

24 SIMS Technical Essentials 28 th April – full day By the end of the course you will be understand the range of approaches to the maintenance and management of the SIMS system including: identifying the components of SIMS\FMS using SOLUS to upgrade SIMS\FMS using DBAttach to upgrade SIMS\FMS using SOLUS to apply a patch using DBAttach to apply a patch how to backup and restore SIMS and FMS an understanding of what SQL is and how it works How to create users and reset passwords in System Manager.

25 Assessment Essential Skills - Secondary ~ 2 day course 1 st and 2 nd May – 2 days By the end of the course you will be understand the key components and capabilities of SIMS Assessment including: marksheet features; aspects: grade sets; result sets; categories; system utilities;templates; groups; formulae; individual reports; basic analysis of data

26 Extended Reporting 6 th May – full day At the end of this course delegates will be able to: produce more complicated lists and mail merged documents modify templates to adjust the appearance of reports including incorporating headed paper develop the use of RTF output exploring cross-modular links in the data use different focuses as the starting point for reports explore the use of macros in Excel related reports extending the use of the Analysis tool

27 Attendance Reporting – Primary 7 th May – full day By the end of the course you will be understand the SIMS approach to the reporting, evaluation and use of attendance data including: reporting attendance data to help monitor attendance functionality provided by the pre-defined SIMS Attendance reports functionality provided by the SIMS Attendance letters how to analyse attendance and real-time data on the SIMS Homepage

28 Behaviour Management - Primary 8 th May – full day At the end of this course delegates will be able to: set up and configure the Behaviour Management area edit relevant lookup tables to meet the needs of and terminology used in an individual school use the behaviour and achievement recording routines for both individuals and groups of pupils set up and administer individual and scheduled detentions including letters to parents create report cards to enable the monitoring of session behaviour produce information on the data held in this area using the reports supplied in SIMS

33 Discover Assessment User - Secondary 22nd May – full day By the end of the course you will be understand the key components and capabilities of SIMS Discover with Assessment including: The creation and management of a range of Discover Graphs including Grade and Marks tracking progress graphs, Average Marks bar graphs, Venn Diagrams and more

34 Early Years Tracking and reporting progress using SIMS 3 rd June – full day By the end of the course you will be understand the key components and capabilities of the trackers and be able to manage the resources for use in school

38 Equipment Register – Asset Management 13 th June – full day This course begins with the content as per the Equipment Register course plus: assigning a financial value to an asset the journals, entries and cash-flow associated with Asset Management defining asset types and depreciation modes undertaking annual depreciation and reverse if necessary retiring an asset

39 SIMS Office User - Further Techniques – Primary 16 th June – full day The course looks at the following: managing the school diary adding a bulletin to the homepage managing extended pupil data managing agents and agencies managing exclusions managing user defined groups managing user defined fields managing lookups making use of bulk routines and housekeeping routines extended use of CTF’s

40 SIMS Reporting - Top Tips and Techniques 26 th June – full day At the end of this course delegates will be able to: understand and make fuller use of the SIMS reporting dictionary understand and make fuller use of reporting techniques such as MailMerge, RTF output, sub-reports and filtering automate the production of reports using CommandReporter manipulate report outputs using Microsoft Office

41 End of Academic Year - Primary Schools 8 th July – half day At the end of this course delegates will be able to: manage all elements of end of year processes including the management of pre-admissions, pastoral promotion and data management and tidy routines which will best place the school to begin the new year

42 Examinations Organiser - Results Analysis - Secondary 15 th July – half day At the end of this course delegates will be able to: import and snag results files calculate PI information run reports and analyses export results to Excel for further analysis create and distribute results marksheets
