2 What is globalisation? Globalisation, to put it simply, is the increase in international and worldwide trade and business activity When did it start? We believe the first steps toward globalization began with the Fenician’s commercial breakthrough back in the years before christ. They developed an alphabet similar to ours (communication) and built new cargo ships with which they could sail through the mediterranean sea, in order to sell to all of the known world.

3 Factors that have changed Globalisation The Internet The internet started at 1969 and is now one of the greatest factors affecting globalisation. With it, people can now communicate with other people far away in a second, as well as send files and just recently, perform video-calls with multiple people at a time. Transportation Transportation technologies, such as large cargo ships and incredibly fast airplanes have made shipment of materials around the world easy and cheap, with a low risk of accidents. Also, transportation has affected the movement of people, such as managers visiting other countries in order to negotiate treaties, etc.

4 Business Description: Subway Restaurants sell foot-long and other sandwiches, salads, and other food items from a retail store. Globalization: international branding is particularly difficult. The different languages and cultural issues present unique challenges for franchises, this are necessary to enter the market of every specific country. For food franchise systems, local cuisine preferences or even religious causes may require entire menus to vary. For example if Subway would have any restaurant in India they would not do beef related products, they would use different alternatives such as chicken. Approach: To be able to have a successful business in this case in India they would have to train local workers to avoid language problems. They would also have to stop producing beef sandwiches for that area because of religion and culture. Communication: The different franchises from the different countries have to inform how they are doing to the main offices of subway, because they have to achieve certain standards so that the brand image is not affected.
