History In 1965, Fred DeLuca borrowed $1,000 from friend Peter Buck to start "Pete's Super Submarines" in Bridgeport Connecticut, and in the following year they formed Doctor's Associates Inc to oversee operations of the restaurants as the franchise expanded. The company derives its name from Fred DeLuca's goal to earn enough from the business to pay tuition for medical school. The name of the franchise was soon changed later to what's known as Subway. The reason for selection was to learn more about a franchise that’s in are everyday life and that when in a hurry we have some info about it before we eat.

Product Information Subway's core product is the submarine sandwich (Sub). In addition to this, the chain also sells wraps, salads and baked goods (including cookies, doughnuts and muffins). While some menu items vary between countries and markets.

Investment Total Investment: $85,200 - $260,350 Franchise Fee: $15,000 Ongoing Royalty Fee: 8% Term of Franchise Agreement: 20 years, renewable Financial Requirements Net Worth: $80,000 - $310,000 Liquid Cash Available: $30,000 - $90,000 Operations Number of employees needed to run franchised unit: 8 - 12. Absentee ownership of franchise is allowed. (100% of current franchisees are owner/operators).

Territories There are already multiple Subways located in Oakville and have been their for a long time and there are still new ones going in allowing subways revenue to increase as none are going bank rupee in Oakville.

Competition McDonalds is subways competition. Founded May 15, 1940 in San Bernardino, California. McDonald’s brand mission is to be our customers’ favorite place and way to eat. Our worldwide operations are aligned around a global strategy called the Plan to Win, which center on an exceptional customer experience. The number of locations 34000+ world wide with a total income of 27.56 billion in the year of 2012.

Meal # 1 A chicken bacon ranch is a combination of grilled chicken breast strips, bacon, cheese and ranch dressing, this sub has more calories than a Big Mac- 580 to be exact. It also has 30 grams of fat- about half of your recommended daily value. With a side of chips and a coke.

Meal #2 The ham sandwich sub only has 290 calories and 5 grams of fat. That doesn't include cheese, which adds an additional 40 calories and 3 grams of fat. The side of a garden salad with a water.

Conclusion Yes we both would invest in Subway because it has been very successful and is a fast growing franchise in the world. With 38000+ locations worldwide and a revenue of 15.2 it has pasted McDonalds in locations and soon to pass them in revenue. With McDonalds great success it would be silly not to invest in a company that is growing faster.
