2 State of Michigan Department of Information Technology 2 From Vision to Action 2 Project Background  The software used to display static content on the website, Michigan.gov, is changing  The current CMS software, Vignette, version 6.0.9, is highly customized and will be non-supported in the future  Horizon meetings held in June 2007 for Michigan.gov site administrators for CMS vendor demonstrations  eMichigan plans to migrate all Michigan.gov web sites to a new Content Management System software (CMS)

Contract negotiations in progress.  IBM is the sole contractor.  New CMS, IBM’s Workplace Web Content Management (IWWCM) with Websphere Portal Server.  Hosting Center - Boulder Colorado  Disaster Recovery – Sterling Forest Enterprise Recovery site in southern Orange County, NY (45 miles from midtown Manhattan) – over 200,000 square feet of raised floor  Michigan.gov current design/usability study by MSU’s Usability and Accessibility Center  Communication Plan for new CMS in place  CMA listserv message to all current CMA users  eMichigan web site – a key resource for all CMA training resources  Fewer Vignette CMS training classes will be offered starting October 2008  New CMS Migration Class  Initial training for eMichigan web developer in support of new CMS

7 State of Michigan Department of Information Technology 7 From Vision to Action 7 Content Migration Strategy Use of Web Content Integrator (RSS Consumer) to provide continuous flow of content changes and content migration  Authoring continues in the pre-migration environment  Migration process uses a snapshot copy of the data  RSS consumer feed used for content from the Vignette environment to the IBM CMS author environment  RSS feed parallel activity to the migration process  No cutover and freeze of content authoring Majority of portal, content and assets (images and documents)  Websphere Content Integrator – RSS Provider/RSS Consumer Site Area – sub site categories  Scripted API Site – first level categories  Manual
