12 Scholars’ Mine Research Repository The Scholars’ Mine is a digital collection of Missouri S&T’s scholarly work. Students can contribute theses and dissertations through a custom Java, which captures the requisite information and places it in the Documentum repository as a document, with an associated xml file of meta-data. The system provides a custom cataloging application accessible by the library staff to further qualify every piece of content in the collection with Dublin Core Qualified meta-data, an international standard for describing digital objects. Once catalogued, the library staff can use a workflow for final approvals and publishing out to the Scholar’s Mine web presence. Currently, the Scholar’s Mine provides browsing by title, author, department, date and paper type. A custom interface was built into the Google Mini Appliance to mirror the scholar’s mine identity. Users can currently perform full text searching and as the mine grows, an advanced search will be implemented. Scholars’ Mine data will be published out to OAIster and Google Scholar in the coming year. DEFINE CONTRIBUTE CATALOGUE PUBLISH BROWSE SEARCH
