3 Genesis 12:1-7 Gen 1-2 – Created for blessing Genesis 3 – Sin leads to curse instead of blessing Genesis 4-11 – Life under the curse Genesis 12 – “I will bless you… you will be a blessing… all nations on earth will be blessed through you.” The mission of God: whole of life; whole of the world

4 Abraham: The Promised Kingdom God's people (Gen 15:1-6) … in the place of his presence (Gen 15:7-21) … blessed (covenant) to be a blessing (Gen 17:1-14)

5 Group discussion Use what you have learned so far to discuss the following: “The OT God who was basically concerned only with Israel, told them that they could be saved if they obeyed the law. However, that really didn't work, so in the NT God decided to love the world and sent Jesus to die for our forgiveness so we could be saved by faith”

11 Genesis 18:18-19 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.
