Ways of Scoring  Jump Shot  Free Throw  Dunk  Alley Oop  Lay up  Hook Shot

Jump Shot Is the most common shot made at the perimeter, also known as a set shot. This is done by getting the right height before throwing the ball to the basketball

Jump Shot  Also have to follow through with the ball  This is done by maintaining your form while the ball is on the way to the basket.

Free Throw Its given after the opponent has committed a personal foul or technical foul This is an unguarded shot taken in the free throw line and is worth 1 point.

Dunk One of the most exciting shots that can be by jumping high enough to get your hands on the rim while still holding the ball. Slam the ball and grab the rim to add more excitement.

Alley Oop A pass and shoot sequence that involves great coordination between passer and the receiver of the ball. The ball is thrown to a player in mid air who will also shoot the ball before he touches the ground

Lay Up The most common shot made inside the paint This is also the easiest shot to make Drive to the basket, take off to get the right elevation, an lay the ball directly to the rim or off the board with one hand

Hook Shot Kareem Abdul-Jabbar trademarked this. This shot is done by turning your body one the side while the head is still facing the basket.

Shooting Forms Eyes on target- To improve accuracy, locate the target (rim) as early as possible. Keep your eyes on the target and do not follow the flight of the ball. Keeping your target focus is very important.

Stance and Balance Feet are shoulder width apart for good balance. Feet should be in slightly staggered stance that is consistent comfortable for you.

Stance & Balance #2 Your shooting foot is slightly ahead of the non shooting foot in a comfortable position. Point feet in the general direction of the basket, but not necessarily directly at it. We prefer an open stance.

Stance & Balance #3 Once you develop a comfortable stance, lineup your feet the exact same way on every shot. Whatever stance you use, consistency is critical. Bend your knees on every shot.

Shot Pocket  As you catch the ball, move it quickly into the shot pocket.  Line up everything so that the ball and your shooting eye form a straight line to the basket.

Position the ball several inches above your waist. Grip the ball properly and be ready to shoot. Position the ball in your shot pocket the same way every time you catch it.

Grip  Place the air hole between the middle and index fingers.  Line up your fingertip pads parallel to the long seams of the ball, so you can monitor the back spin.

Grip  Leave space between the ball and middle of your palm.  You should be able to insert a pencil between the ball and your rear.  Spread your fingers for enough apart to comfortably balance the ball.  The ball should sit on your pads.

Balance Hand  Your non shooting hand should be on the side of the ball.  Your balanced hand should not add force or spin to the shot.  Your non shooting hand should not move on delivery and should always off the ball first.

Delivery  The ball should start motion directly upwards from the shot pocket.  Your elbow should be positioned comfortably under the ball.  The ball stays in front of you should not go behind your head.  Uncoil your body with your legs, core, and arm power.  Your elbow and wrist.
