13-8-2015 Rotterdam Electric

13-8-2015 2 Ambition  50% C0 2 -reduction in 2025 compared to 1990  100% climate proof in 2025  Improved air quality  Economically strong city

13-8-2015 3 3 Sustainability Program 2011-2014 Goal: Rotterdam as a clean, green, healthy and economically strong city. Objectives for Electric Mobility in the Sustainability Program:  Reduce CO 2 emissions as leading city  Improve energy efficiency  Promote sustainable mobility and transport  Promote clean air and reduce noise hindrance  Enlarge sustainable investments and promote sustainable products and services

13-8-2015 4 Benefits of Electric Mobility Internal combustion engine ~ 15% Electric engine with fossil electricity ~ 25% Electric engine with green electricity ~ 65% Important for Rotterdam: - Locally zero-emission - Less CO 2 emissions in the total energy chain - Less noise hindrance - Maintain good accessibility by car

13-8-2015 5 5 Rotterdam Electric Goal: encourage the use of electric vehicles  At least 1.000 charging stations in 2014  A covering network of charging stations for e-bikes and e-scooters  Replacement of 4.000 petrol scooters by e-scooters  A portfolio of innovation projects on electric mobility  All new parking garages are designed to be ‘EV-Ready’  25% of the municipal vehicle fleet is electric or hybrid in 2014

13-8-2015 6 Rotterdam Electric Charging Infrastructure Electric 2- and 3-wheelers Innovation Projects and Vehicle Fleets Collaboration and Lobby Monitoring & Communication

13-8-2015 7 Charging Infrastructure Targets: 1.1000 charging points linked to vehicle owners: -Private terrain: subsidies (€ 1.000 and € 450 for green electricity) or -In parking garages or -In public space 2.60 charging stations at strategic locations 3.Fast-charging

13-8-2015 8 Electric 2- and 3-wheelers  Network of charging stations installed in public bicycle sheds  Old target: replacement of 4.000 fossil scooters with e-scooters, promoted with financial incentive (demolition premium)  In 2011 city council decree against demolition premium  E-scooter promotion remains political priority  Potential new target: by 2014 15% of the newly sold scooters is an e-scooter (innovators & early adopters)

13-8-2015 9 Electric 2- and 3-wheelers - Projects  E-scooter platform Rotterdam  Electric Scooter Factory Rotterdam  Experience to convince 2.0  E-scooter in municipal vehicle fleet  Charging stations in public bicycle sheds  Electric food delivery  Scooter party @ RDM  Domino’s and Croon TBI as forerunners New  Experience to convince 3.0  Electric thuisbezorgd.nl (takeaway.com)  Electric scooter experience HNR|EVC

13-8-2015 10 Innovation Projects Target: Promote and/or facilitate projects of external stakeholders which implement innovations with electric transport Assessment criteria per project:  External stakeholder initiative  Added value for Rotterdam  Uniqueness in the region  Up scaling potential

13-8-2015 11 Innovation Projects - Milestones  Pilot with 75 electric vehicles in Rotterdam  Pilot with 25 electric car sharing vehicles in the 4 big cities  Electric Tuc Tuc transport by Flex Overschie  Pilot with 4 electric hybrid busses at RET  Start of ESFA: Electric Scooter Factory Rotterdam  Application of 2 hybrid heavy garbage trucks  Fast charging stations

13-8-2015 12 Innovation Projects - Milestones Launch of the Electric Vehicle Center

13-8-2015 13 Innovation Projects  Possible new innovation projects in 2012 and beyond  Electric city distribution  Electric taxis  Full-electric city busses  …

13-8-2015 14 Sustainable City Logistics  Transport Analysis  Binnenstadservice  Environmental Zone  Nighttime Distribution  ECOSTARS Together with public and private partners in the city

13-8-2015 15 Transport Analysis (2008)

13-8-2015 16 Binnenstadservice Rotterdam Reduction of 150 trips per week compared to 2010

13-8-2015 17 Environmental Zone for trucks > 3.5t

13-8-2015 18 Nighttime Distribution In Rotterdam:  Noise constraints (23:00 – 7:00 < 60 dB)  Distribution time frame constraints (e.g. 7:00 – 17:00)

13-8-2015 19 Nighttime Distribution 17% CO2 reduction because of fuel savings Less vehicles needed for the same deliveries due to: 1. Use of larger trucks 2. Operation without time frame constraints Agreement: all supermarkets joined

13-8-2015 20 ECOSTARS

13-8-2015 21 ECOSTARS  Incentives for transport companies  8 European cities, 3 years  Goods and people  Vehicle fleet scan  Score: stars  Award: incentives
