Look for our theme announcement and cover contest details within the next week. Fall Book Fair Success We would like to thank everyone for helping to make the Fall Book Fair such a huge success. You not only helped the kids stay excited about books, but were also able to make a lot of much needed money to help the whole school. We were also able to collect $650 for the "One For Books" program. We are particularly proud of this because not only does this help Ridgeway buy more books but it helps readers beyond our school. Scholastic Book Fairs matches our $650 with a donation of 650 books to two national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping children, families and teachers acquire books. You made a difference more than you'll ever know. Thank you!! Amy Eckloff Thank You 5k! Thank you to everyone that ran or walked at the 5K, this year we raised over $3500. The day was a great success, the sponsors that came are already signed up to come back next year as they had so much fun. The day would not have been possible without the help of all the wonderful volunteers, the gang from Patuxent Glen who came out in the dark to set the cones on the course, Michelle Wolfley for designing the program, and all the parents and staff that helped with line of sight, same day registration, packet pick-up, photography and last but not least making the all important coffee run. Chessie Program The Chessie program has started, I want to thank all our wonderful parent volunteers who come to ask question in the mornings, without you this program would not be possible. The children are having a blast - we started with 2nd and 3rd grade and 1st grade are starting October 29th. OUR STUDENTS SHARE THEIR ARTWORK WITH THE WORLD! Move Over Famous Artists! Ridgeway Elementary artists are taking over the spotlight! Ridgeway's Art Department, has teamed up with Artsonia, www.artsonia.com -- the world's largest online kid's art museum -- to display the students' artwork. Anyone can view the school gallery online at: www.artsonia.com/schools/Ridgeway2. Visitors can browse the artwork in the school gallery by grade level, or by specific exhibits. Ridgeway Elementary students join thousands of students from over 130 countries whose artwork is showcased on Artsonia. This program is a wonderful way to get parents and family members more involved in Art Education. Watch for information coming soon on our first Artsonia Fundraiser!! Share your student's art with family and friends. It's a great time of year to start holiday shopping and support the Art Department at the same time.
