Limit the Candy and Sweets: Give the traditional V-Day candies a healthy boost by using all-natural ingredients, dark chocolate, and fruit. Ex. Chocolate-dipped strawberries and fruits, chocolate-dipped pretzels, chocolate-covered almonds, nuts, and raisins. Bring healthy options such as fun fruit salads and small toys to your child’s Valentine’s parties. 2. Get Active: Who says your Valentine’s Day has to include dinner and a movie? Skip the theater and get active with your loved ones. Try out a hike and picnic, go to the zoo, or play miniature golf. 3. Express Yourself: Emotional and mental health are equally as important as physical health. Tap into your creative side and try making your own Valentine's cards, poems, and homemade gifts for your friends and loved ones this year. This a great family-friendly activity! 5. Volunteer: Nothing makes the heart feel better than doing a good deed. Use the day to celebrate the gift of giving. There are many places where you and your loved ones can volunteer your time together, such as homeless shelters, hospitals, nursing homes, and food banks. Have a Heart-Healthy Valentine’s Day! 1.
