3
Integers can be represented on a number line Whole numbers Integers can either be negative(-), positive(+) or zero Meaning of the word
4
The money in your pocket is positive The money that you owe is negative The money in your pocket is positive The money that you owe is negative Money The positive numbers represent money in your pocket while the negative numbers represent money that you owe to someone.
5
The money in your pocket is positive The money that you owe is negative + 9 I have $9 in my pocket I owe $9 - 9
6
Adding money When adding two amounts of money in both pockets (4 and 3), for example, the answer has to be a bigger number than each one and the result is a positive number. 4 + 3 = 7 When adding two amounts of money that you owe (-3 and -8), the answer has to be negative. -3 - 8 = -11 I have no money the answer is negative. 7 is the same as +7
7
If there is more money in your pocket than you owe the answer will be positive. For example: 9 - 5 = 4 9 - 5 = 4 Money in my pocket 9 Money I owe - 5 Q: Where do I have more money? A: In my pocket The answer is positive (+4 or 4)
8
8 - 10 = - 2 Money in my pocket 8 Money I owe -10 Q: Do I have more money in my pocket? A: No The answer is negative (- 2 ) If the money that owe is more than the money in your pocket then the answer will be negative. For example: 8 - 10 = -2
9
-Are to the right of zero -The sign for a positive integer is (+), however the sign is not always needed. For example: +5 is the same value as 5. -Are to the right of zero -The sign for a positive integer is (+), however the sign is not always needed. For example: +5 is the same value as 5. Positive Integers
10
-To the left of zero -Valued less than zero. -The sign for a negative integer is (-). This sign is always needed. Negative Integers
