1 Proposal for Sponsorship
The Swartland Canoe Marathon is an established event on the South African canoeing calendar. The organizers, Peninsular Canoe Club (PCC), are looking for a suitable sponsorship for the event.

When and Where The 2009 Swartland Canoe Marathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 June 2009. The race starts outside Wellington, overnights in Zonquasdrift outside Riebeeck Kasteel and ends near Bridgetown. It covers about 80kms over the two days and takes in the best of the Berg River.. .

What do you get for your money? Naming right of the event: The event will be called the 2008 xxxx SWARTLAND CANOE MARATHON. (Dave McCloud) Marketing have been appointed by the organisers as the ‘sponsor liaison’ and their job will be to ensure that the agreed media coverage and brand exposure outlined in this document takes place.

What do you get for your money? TV Coverage: A stand alone 26 minute show on SuperSport that will be aired four to six times. For the show, the title sponsor gets a 15 second billboard before and after the show, with logo and pay off line. Fifty percent of the show (i.e. thirteen minutes) for a corner screen logo.  Incidental race branding included in the footage from the event and incidental mentioning of the title sponsor during the voice

What do you get for your money? Print Media: The SA Paddler magazine, which goes to to all 5000 registered canoeists and surf skiers affiliated to the national paddling body, will publicise the event prior to the race and after the race. The appointed public relations company, (Dave McCloud) PR & Marketing, will endeavour to gain publicity for the event in various consumer magazines, local daily and community newspapers as well as local radio stations.

What do you get for your money? Website Exposure: The event has its own website, , and all entries must be done on line. The website is linked to all the various national canoe bodies. News releases are mailed at regular intervals to the race database. These news releases are posted to the race website and are also incorporated into the Canoeing SA newsletter that is ed weekly to all South African canoeists and surf skiers. The Canoeing SA newsletter incorporates a dedicated update on the event and a link to the event website. The title sponsors logo will be prominently displayed on the event website, on the news releases and on the Canoeing SA national newsletter.

What do you get for your money? Brand Exposure: The title sponsor may work with the organisers to brand and distribute product where they will get the most exposure. Stickers with the title sponsor’s logo will be put on the paddles and boats of all the competitors. Bibs will be printed for all the competitors bearing the title sponsor’s logo. These are to be worn over the canoeist’s life jackets. All the participants will receive a goodie bag containing a race top and cap, all of which will be branded with the title sponsors logo.

Proceeds from the Event Proceeds from the race entries are being used to fund the upgrading of club facilities and the running of a development programme that focuses on introducing new paddlers from underprivileged backgrounds to the sport. The acquisition of boats and equipment is currently underway. The club has also embarked on a focused recruitment campaign at schools in the Cape Peninsula, which include Muizenburg Junior and Muizenburg High, and at the False Bay Surf Life Saving. In addition the Peninsula Canoe Club runs three squad training sessions per week for these juniors at no cost to them.

Sponsorship Amounts Sub Sponsor: R Brand Exposure Distribution of product or information at the event in the participants goodie bag that is handed out at registration. Banners may be placed at Day 1 & 2 start boat check points, the banner avenue to the finish point and at the boat pound as well as agreed locations on the race route. Website Sub-sponsors will also receive coverage on the official race website as well as a side column logo on the regular race newsflashes.

Sponsorship Amounts Product Sponsor: R Product sponsorship must be related to the event and to a value of R Product sponsors will receive the following exposure; Brand Exposure Distribution of product or information at the event in the participants goodie bag that is handed out at registration. Banners may be put up at agreed distribution points on Day 1 & Day 2 of the race. Website Product sponsors will also receive coverage on the official race website.
