http://www.wix.com/ Free Flash Website Builder http://www.wix.com/lindajoiner/laurens-digital-art This is a great site for building a graphic-intensive website. It’s designed with Flash so keep that in mind if you want something that will work on mobile devices. The nice thing about it is that you can also embed what you put on this site to display on another site. Here’s an example: http://digitalartandmusic.wikispaces.com/Art If you like Wix, watch this video to get started: http://www.wix.com/support/main/flash/ Wix

http://www.wikispaces.com Super easy to use – free – and easy to share. The whole idea behind a wiki is that other people can edit the site, but you can make a wiki private, so that only members can edit. You can also lock pages that you do not want anyone to edit. You can also create it as a regular webpage and not allow anyone to join or edit. http://hmtechresources.wikispaces.com/home There is a tutorial on how to create a wiki on my page, and there are tons of help resources on the wiki site to get you started. This site is very user friendly. Wikispaces

This is probably my favorite! http://www.weebly.com Super easy – very intuitive. Just follow the prompts. If you can create a PowerPoint, you can create a website here. http://hhmstechnology.weebly.com/ If you have trouble, click the Help option. Weebly

https://sites.google.com/ This is probably my least favorite, but check it out. You might like it. https://sites.google.com/site/hhmstechnology/ Google Sites Like the other sites, you select a template and a theme. I just found it more difficult to edit.

Images You will want to be able to edit images on your website. There’s nothing more annoying than clicking on an image, only to find it so large you can’t view it all. Or expecting a thumbnail image to become more visible when you click on it so that you can see it clearly, but it remains small. Here are some great websites to use for managing images. Jing - http://www.techsmith.com/jing.htmlhttp://www.techsmith.com/jing.html Jing will allow you to take a screen capture of anything on your computer – and it’s free. The image saves in the.png format. Dr. Pic - http://www.drpic.com/http://www.drpic.com/ Great photo editing site – real easy to resize and format photos for free. Other things to keep in mind

Google is your best friend. Google sites for free graphics. Don’t use anything that isn’t free, or without permission. You may simply be asked to provide a link back to the site offering the free graphics. Bad websites

Embedding something into a website means to add a feature without making the page open up to the actual site where the feature is located. You can embed RSS feeds, YouTube videos, slide shows, photo albums, and more. Just look for the “embed code”. Then look for the “html widget” or other option to paste the code. Go back to my Wikispaces site to see everything I have embedded there. http://hmtechresources.wikispaces.com/ Have fun! Embedding
