6 Page 6 North American CDMA LBS Summary Location Based Services (LBS) are becoming a key differentiator in the North American CDMA market. 2006 was a great year for LBS services in North America There are 7 North American CDMA carriers who have either launched user plane LBS services or will soon launch user plane LBS services. In addition to user plane launches some north American carriers have commercial applications using control plane Verizon wireless, Sprint Nextel, Telus Mobility, Iusacell have all commercially launched user plane LBS. USCC, Alltell, and Bell Mobility are very interested in user plane LBS Carriers are very interested in LBS roaming in the region Sprint Nextel, Telus Mobility and Bell Mobility have also launched commercial applications that use control plane LBS architecture

7 Page 7 North American CDMA LBS Roaming Summary LBS roaming working group was created within the CDG International Roaming Team (IRT) in September 2006. The goal of LBS roaming working group is to develop roaming specifications and roaming solutions within the CDG IRT framework to enable LBS roaming in both Control Plane and User Plane architectures We had excellent carrier and vendor participation in the 3 LBS roaming summit meetings. We identified roaming solutions for both user plane and control plane LBS roaming We have organized 3 North American focused LBS roaming summit meetings September 2006, Chicago –This was a carrier only meeting. All the 7 North American CDMA carriers attended this meeting. November 2006, San Francisco –There was a healthy participation from carriers and LBS vendors. Due diligence was done on many possible user plane and control plane solutions for LBS roaming. We achieved a consensus on narrowing down the list of possible solutions. January 2007, Denver –Specific agreed upon solutions were presented for both control plane and user plane roaming. Solutions such as DNS, and inter-PDE transaction solution were presented

8 Page 8 LBS roaming resources All presentations and documentation from previous summit meetings are available on a CDG WiKi page: http://210.54.118.1/wiki/LBS_Roaming_Documents There is a email reflector that the LBS roaming team uses frequently to make new announcements Details on adding yourself to this reflector are available on the WiKi pageIRT- LBS@oberon.3diinc.com LBS working group is also a great way to connect with and socialize with the key individuals who are driving LBS in North American CDMA market.
