4 Background Research A well-stocked library has a positive impact on student achievement, regardless of the socio-economic or educational levels of the community (School Library Impact Studies) www.lrs.org/impact.aspwww.lrs.org/impact.asp Findings show that technology and information skills are best taught within the curricular context rather than in isolation (School Libraries Work) www.scholastic.com/librarianswww.scholastic.com/librarians Technology as a Second Language (TSL), introduced in 1995, emphasized information literacy and the use of technology within the school community.
