5 Gaenslen’s Test Procedure: Patient Supine. Affected side near edge of table. Flex knee of unaffected side to chest. Downward pressure on affected thigh until lower than table. Positive Test: Extension of the leg stresses the sacroiliac joint and the anterior SI ligaments on the affected side. Pain indicates SI joint lesion or sprain of the anterior SI joint ligaments.

6 Gaenslen’s Test

7 Yeoman’s Test Procedure: Patient prone. Grasp lower leg and passively flex knee. Extend hip. Positive Test: Pain indicates stress of the SI joint and / or anterior SI joint ligaments.

8 Yeoman’s Test

9 Hibb’s Test Procedure: Patient prone. Flex leg to the buttock. Then move the leg outward to internally rotate the hip. Positive Test: This test stresses the hip joint and causes a slight distraction of the SI joint. Pain in the SI joint indicates a sacroiliac joint lesion. Pain in the hip indicates a hip joint lesion.
