3 Apply and modify transitions and animations Multimedia, with elements such as audio and video, enhance presentations. Make your point in a more engaging way. Multimedia objects break up the presentation. They can explain concepts in a way that appeals to people with different learning styles. 4 Apply and modify transitions and animations Transitions are the visual and audio elements that occur as the slides change. Transitions add a very professional quality to your presentations. 5 Apply and modify transitions and animations To add transitions to a presentation: Open the presentation and select a slide to apply a transition to. Click the Transitions tab. 7 Apply and modify transitions and animations Animations affect the individual objects on the slide. Bullet points, other text, and graphics can be timed to appear on the slide in different ways. 9 Create hyperlinks within a presentation Hyperlinks are objects, such as text or graphics, that provide a path to additional resources. Hyperlinks serve two purposes in PowerPoint: Hyperlink to slides that are not in the normal progression of the slides. Provide hyperlinks to Internet resources, such as e-mail and the web. With a presentation distributed on CD or as a PDF file, this gives the audience an opportunity to interact with the presentation. Copyright © 2013 Pearson Education, Inc. 10 Create hyperlinks within a presentation To create slide hyperlinks: Select the text for the hyperlink to be added to, and click the Insert tab. Click Hyperlink in the Links group to display the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. Click Place in This Document in the Link to group. 13 Create hyperlinks within a presentation To setup Internet links: Position the cursor where the hyperlink is to be placed. Type text to be displayed and press (Enter). Click the Insert tab and click Hyperlink. Click E-mail Address under Link to and type the desired E-mail address in the Text to display box. Type the e-mail address again in the E-mail address box. 16 Create hyperlinks within a presentation Action Buttons are special shapes, predefined to include actions that help you navigate through slides. Available in the Shapes gallery on the Insert tab. The actions include moving to a previous slide or the next slide, skipping to the first or last slide of the presentation, playing a sound or movie, opening a document, or opening a Help feature. 17 Create hyperlinks within a presentation To add and modify Action Buttons: Click the Insert tab and click Shapes in the Illustrations group. Click the desired Action Button in the Shapes gallery. Click the location in the slide to place the graphic. Click the Hyperlink to arrow and select the appropriate option (next, previous, first, last, etc.). Click OK in the Action Settings dialog box. You may wish to hide slides unless the person viewing the presentation clicks on a hyperlink. In other cases, you may want to anticipate questions your audience might have and place some hidden slides within your presentation to reveal if they ask these questions. To hide a slide Click the Slide Show tab and click Hide Slide.

Click Record in the Record Sound dialog box. Speak script notes or narration into the microphone. Click Stop when you have completed speaking. Click Play to review the recording. Type recording name in the Name box and click OK to save.

Click Clip Art Video. Type desired object name in the Search for box. Click the Results should be arrow and click Go. The Photo Album feature of PowerPoint is an efficient way to insert a large number of photographs into a slide show just by selecting the photographs you want to include in the presentation. You do not have to individually insert, resize, or arrange the pictures on the slides. This saves time and effort. Uses of photo albums include: product catalogs, owner’s manuals, training manuals, and testimonials.

They can be rotated in 90-degree increments, clockwise or counterclockwise. Contrast and brightness of photographs can be adjusted in the Photo Album dialog box. You can choose from many different slide layouts. Text can be added using the Photo Album dialog box. You can add a theme.

The easiest and most efficient way to select the photographs for the album is to group all of the pictures in a single folder. Click the Insert tab and click Photo Album in the Images group. Click File/Disk and navigate to the data file storage location. Select files and click Insert.

To create custom slide shows: Click the Slide Show tab, click Custom Slide Show in the Start Slide Show group, and click Custom Shows. Click New in the Custom Shows dialog box and type the presentation name in the Slide show name box. Select the slides in the Slides in presentation box and click Add. Click Add, OK, Close, and Save.

PowerPoint can save your presentation files in a variety of formats and expedite sending them via e-mail to other people. Files can be sent as a PowerPoint attachment, a PDF file attachment, an XPS file attachment, or a fax. Save your presentation to the web using a Windows Live account or to a SharePoint server, so audience members can view it with a web browser. Set up the presentation to be broadcast to remote viewers by sending them a link so they can view the slides on the web in real time as you display them. Slides can be stored in a slide library or SharePoint site so other people can access and update the presentation.

Click the File tab and click Save & Send. Click Send as PDF. Fill in To box, Cc box, Subject box, and Message box. Click Send. Click Start and open Outlook.

To save a PowerPoint video: Click the File tab, click Save & Send, and click Create a Video. Click the Computer & HD Displays arrow, and click Internet & DVD. Click Create Video. Type the file name in the File name box. Click Save.

To create a CD presentation: Click the File tab, click Save & Send, and click Package Presentation for CD. Click Package for CD. Type the presentation name in the Name the CD box in the Package for CD dialog box. Click Copy to Folder. Type the folder name in the Folder name box in the Copy to Folder dialog box.

Click Select when you are in the correct location. Click OK on the Copy to Folder dialog box. Click Yes when asked if you want to include linked files in your package.
