This is the NRA, Come Join Us

The primary purpose of the NRA is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, with a primary focus on the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, which guarantees your individual right to keep and bear arms.

However, there are many who want to severely restrict or eliminate your gun rights. Their two- pronged plan attacks both you and your gun:

To Combat Attacks on Your Rights, NRA is:

Fighting gun registration and licensing schemes as ineffective against crime, an invasion of privacy and a precursor to confiscation—what happened in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

To Combat Attacks on Your Rights, NRA is: Protecting private gun sales by exposing the “gun show loophole” fallacy. Imagine not being allowed to legally pass your guns down to your son or sell one to your friend.

To Combat Attacks on Your Rights, NRA is: Protecting our individual right to own a gun against the growing influence of the U.N. and it’s efforts to pass global treaties that would disarm individual citizens everywhere in the world, including the United States.

To Combat Attacks on Your Rights, NRA is: Fighting reimposition of the “Assault Weapons Ban” as well as expanded legislation that would ban semi-automatic shotguns, detachable magazine semi- automatic rifles and pump-action shotguns and rifles.

To Combat Attacks on Your Gun, NRA is:

Proud to have won passage of the protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act to protect gunmakers from reckless (and taxpayer funded) lawsuits designed to hold manufacturers and dealers liable for the criminal acts of third parties who are totally beyond their control.

To Combat Attacks on Your Gun, NRA is: Working against new schemes such as “Ballistic Fingerprinting”, which requires markings on bullets and cartridge cases to be entered into a national database. “Microstamping” laws would require cartridge cases be marked with serial numbers and registered to the purchaser. Both systems are extremely costly for manufacturers and have already proven unreliable.

To Combat Attacks on Your Gun, NRA is: NRA is working against so-called “Smart” Gun technology which would require guns to have expensive, unreliable features, such as grips that read your fingerprints before the gun will fire.

The Strength of NRA

The Strength of the NRA Putting an end to the claim that the Second Amendment only protects a state’s right to maintain a militia, in 2008 the Supreme court ruled 5-4 in District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment is an individually-held right to keep and bear arms.

The Strength of the NRA Do you believe you have the right to defend yourself, your family and your home? Amazingly, many states don’t, so NRA is pursuing passage of the “Castle Doctrine” legislation. This law establishes your right to use appropriate force to protect yourself and those you love.

The Strength of the NRA NRA has played a key role in the passage of Right to Carry laws in dozens of states and continues to push for more. There are now 44 Right to Carry states and the violent crime rate has decreased more than 49%.

The Strength of the NRA The NRA has successfully promoted “firearm preemption laws” in 48 states. These laws prevent local jurisdictions from imposing more restrictive ordinances than the laws of the state.

The Strength of the NRA You’ve heard of employees being fired for having a gun in their locked vehicle. Now NRA is supporting legislation at the state level to prevent employers from restricting employees’ self-defense and firearm rights with respect to guns in parked vehicles.

The Strength of the NRA Population growth has moved new groups of citizens closer to existing shooting ranges, resulting in hundreds of lawsuits and complaints by the newcomers against the established ranges. NRA has been promoting Range Protection Laws at the state level and has been successful in 48 states.
