label all of the 50 states on a map of the US name the capitals of each state give the correct (postal) abbreviation of each state label the major geographic features of the US (major rivers, mountains, bodies of water and a few other geographic landmarks) identify characteristics of each region's history (people & culture) economy (resources & industry) places of interest (largest cities & landmarks) climate/weather physical features

How will that happen? Instruction is divided into four regions: Northeast, South, Midwest and West Generally, four days of instruction will be spent on each region. At the end of those four days, there will be a test. On this test, you are expected to do the following for the states in the region: identify each state's location given a map identify the capital and abbreviation of each state identify the major physical geographic features of that region on a map select the correct description of that region's history, economy, places of interest, climate and physical features
