4 What is the Master Health Education Program? Community health education and volunteer leader training program offered through the Mississippi State University Extension Service

5 Objectives of the Program Provide accurate health promotion information Develop community programs related to health promotion Support youth health programs Develop leadership skills among volunteers

7 Who are Master Health Education Volunteers? A diverse group of trained volunteers committed to sharing their passion for health promotion with each other and the community.

8 Who can be a Master Health Education Volunteer? YOU CAN BE! –No previous experience or training is necessary –The majority of applicants do not have health education experience

9 Master Health Education Volunteers DO need: A willingness to learn and share their knowledge with others A personal commitment to volunteerism

15 Community Service To become a certified Master Health Educator, the trainee must complete 40 hours of approved volunteer service within one year of training.

16 Active Certification To remain an active MHEV, you must complete: 20 hours of approved service every year 10 continuing educational hours in an approved topic
