3 The rules to determine which article to use are the same for definite and indefinite articles Examples: una carpeta – a folder un libro – a book unas carpetas – some folders unos libros – some books

6 Adjectives Adjectives describe a: Person, place, thing

7 Adjectives In Spanish, the way an adjective ends is determined by the gender of the NOUN – Repasito: A noun is: person, place or thing – All nouns have a gender in Spanish – There are 2 gender masculine and feminine

9 If a noun is MASCULINE, the adjective that describes it must also be MASCULINE and will most often end in “-o” Examples: Juan es ordenado Marcos es simpátic__ o

10 If a noun is FEMININE, the adjective that describes it must also be FEMININE and will most often end in “-a” Examples: Sara es estudiosa La chica es simpátic____ a

11 If the adjective ends in an “E” then it describes both MASCULINE and FEMININE nouns Examples: Pedro es inteligente Ana es inteligente

12 The weird ones Adjectives whose masculine form ends in -DOR, have a feminine form that ends –DORA Examples: Pedro es trabajador Ana es trabajadora There are some adjectives that end in “-a” that are masculine and feminine Examples: Pedro es deportista Ana es deportista

15 Plurals If your nouns are plural, your adjective MUST also be plural (use the rules we’ve already talked about) ends in vowel  add “s” ends in consonant  add “es” Examples:los chicos graciosos las amigas talentosas
