2 2 B ACKGROUND FC Moves is a department within the Planning, Development, and Transportation (PDT) Service Area We look at long range (planning) needs as well as current (programming) needs, through these functions: Transportation Planning Safe Routes to School FC Bikes

3 3 M ISSION “Providing safe, convenient, sustainable transportation choices for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities through planning, advocacy, and community programs.”

4 4 S AFE - S USTAINABLE - C HOICES Transportation is essential to the “Triple Bottom Line” for sustainability and achieving Climate Action Plan goals Transportation is a key factor in public health and safety Transportation Choices contribute to the overall livability of the community Making Safety, Sustainability, and Transportation Choices available to all people is essential to Social Equity

5 5 T RANSPORTATION P LANNING “Planning for People” Creating a balanced transportation system for all modes Near term: Complete Streets Capital Improvements Development Review Longer Term: Transportation Master Plan Master Street Plan Bicycle Plan Pedestrian Plan Corridor Plans

6 6 A DVOCACY Working across department lines to promote and plan for modal shift and active transportation Encouraging walking and biking through community outreach Building relationships with schools and the cycling community Creating opportunities Bike Library, Bicycle and Pedestrian Education, Safe Routes to School

7 7 C OMMUNITY P ROGRAMS Educate and Encourage Highlights: Training for around 10,000 students/year Teaching school district staff to run their own safe routes programs Hands on, personalized work with schools and businesses Bicycle safety education Year-round local bike events Annual Bike Week events

8 8 FC M OVES IS : Transportation Planning “For People” Community Programs Educate and Encourage Advocacy Modal Shift and Active Transportation Safer, Healthier, more Sustainable Community

10 10 Bicycle Safety and Education Classes Traffic Skills 101: every other month- next open class is July 18 then September 26 Learn-to-Ride Classes: May 21, 28; June 3,10; TBD July, August, September Learn from, or become, a Bicycle Ambassador: bicycleambassadorprogram.org
