The Water Cycle! Justin McQueen

Content Area: Science Grade Level: 4 Summary: The purpose of this area is to prepare you for further studies of the atmosphere and the Water Cycle. Objective: You will be able to explain the processes of each stage of the Water Cycle. You will also answer all of the presented questions with 100% accuracy. Standards: Common Core Tennessee State Standards GLE 0407.8.1 Recognize the major components of the water cycle. SPI 0407.8.1 Identify the basic features of the water cycle and describe their importance to life on earth. ISTES-T 3.b. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media

Facts There is a limitation to the amount of water on the Earth. The Earth uses a process called ‘The Water Cycle’ to recycle the water on the planet over and over. The Water Cycle consists of the following stages: Evaporation, Precipitation, Condensation, Collection The majority of the water used in this process comes from the World’s Oceans.

More Facts Go to the following website to learn more about each stage of the water cycle. http://www.kidzone.ws/water/http://www.kidzone.ws/water/ Carefully review the details and processes each stage of the water cycle consists of. Once you have finished that, click the link below for a video that takes you step by step through the water cycle. http://www.neok12.com/video/Water- Cycle/zX68426f001a7c62654f6145.htmhttp://www.neok12.com/video/Water- Cycle/zX68426f001a7c62654f6145.htm

Question #1 Which stage of the Water Cycle occurs when so much water has condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore and it falls from the clouds in the form of rain, sleet, hail, or snow? Collection Collection Collection Precipitation Precipitation Precipitation Evaporation Evaporation Evaporation

Correct Answer!!! You got it right, its Precipitation!

Question #2 Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds. What is this called? Precipitation Evaporation Condensation

Correct Answer!! You’re Awesome! Condensation is right!

Question #3 If you leave a cup of water outside at lunchtime and come back later that evening to see that some of the water is gone, what process of the water cycle has occurred. Condensation Evaporation Precipitation

Correct Answer! Right Again!! Great work!

Summary In this lesson you will have learned in detail each step of the water cycle. You will know specifically how they process and how water is recycled on a daily basis. You will have explored the given online resources to gather your information as well as the video provided. You should be able to illustrate and explain how the water cycle works with no additional aid upon completion of this lesson.

Conclusion Now that you know how the Water cycle works lets be proactive! Keeping the air and water clean in our environment is important because we use it everyday. Let’s keep our water clean so the water cycle can work correctly!
