2 What is coal  Coal is a type of fuel that is mostly used to power our homes in the country. It makes power exactly the same way as gas and oil. Coal is also very cheap

3 Other coals  Charcoal is also known as another coal with different uses. It is made by forest fires or burnt wood. When people make coals it takes them days for the process to complete.

4 Fossil fuel  Coal is also known as a fossil fuel. It is made by the remains of the animals or plants which existed a long time ago.

5 Uses to make power  When we use coal to make power usually most coal power plants burn the coal and boil the water on top of the coal which creates steam and it its speed pushes the turbine which generates electricity

6 Effects to the environment Coal may produce power but in can cause severe damage to the environment. It releases bad gasses which can damage our lungs in our and it can damage the plants. It also increases greenhouse gases.

7 Other negative facts  Coal is also known as a non renewable source and it is really hard to get. It is mostly found in the mines and if the mine collapse it would damage the area around it and trap the miners.

8 The history of coal  In the 18 th century coal was used in steam powered engines that are used for trains. Later then the first car was powered by steam engine

9 Facts  Coal is like a family with gas and oil  Natural coal takes more than a hundred years to be made  Coal can be used to make fire too
