4 The Agreement Agreed to by all 34 Community Colleges WA Public Baccalaureate Institutions have a similar agreement HS can use their Smarter Balanced scores to place into college classes

5 Smarter Balanced Assessment Smarter Balanced is a state-led consortium comprised of members that have come together to create a high- quality system of assessments aligned with the Common Core State Standards to measure college and career readiness. Funded by the Race to the Top Assessment Program, Smarter Balanced assessments will be implemented in Spring 2015 for 11 th graders.membersCommon Core State Standards

9 Smarter Balanced Agreement (2) 11 th Grade Score Level Math Placement Options Available Based on Score English Placement Options Available Based on Score 2 An entry college-level terminal math course not on the calculus pathway, contingent on a B or better in the statewide college readiness/ transition course or through local institutional processes (transcript, high school GPA, additional testing, etc.) An entry college-level English course (including but not limited to English Composition or its equivalent) [contingency same as math] 1 Additional placement information, determined by local institutional processes (transcript, high school GPA, additional testing, etc.), needed for all entry-level courses [Same as math]
