Action 2 Student’s future questionnaire Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow

In the 4ème and 3ème euro class, we can see that there are more girls (34) than boys (10). This option seems to be more attractive for girls. This inquiry will be based on 44 students. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Personal details of the students

A lot of students like English, History, Maths and Science. Less people like Spanish, French, Art and Technology. Italian, German and Sport aren't appreciated by pupils. English comes first but it is the euro classes so it may depend on the students ( in another class it could have been different). Few of those students chose PE ; a lot of them practice out of school as an extra curriculum activity but they don’t really like it at school. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Which is your favorite subject ?

A lot of students don't have any idea about their future job, which is quite usual but jobs linked with science and arts are attractive. Students are 13/15 and don’t have to choose a vocational after the 3ème. We can imagine they can change their mind. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Future job

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Would you choose to study in another European country ? Most people answer maybe and some answer no. As students are young they don’t imagine themselves living abroad, far from their family.

Most of the students want to study in UK which seems the most attractive country as they speak al a little bit of English. They have all had a trip in the UK so they know this country. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow If yes, which country would you choose ?

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow If you had the chance would work in a foreign country? It seems that a lot of students are not ready to leave their country. Yet only one is deeply against.

For the 4eme they have been learning one foreign languages for 3 years and a second one for one year. For the 3ème they have been learning one foreign languages for 4 years and a second one for two years. For a few of them they have an other native tongue. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow How many foreign languages can you speak apart from your native tongue ?

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow More foreign languages apart from the native tongue The students speak the languages they learn at school ( except portuguese for one student )

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Number of languages people should be able to speak in the future Students agree on the fact of speaking foreign languages are important. They may see it useful for their future ( job or leisure..)

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Which languages would you prefer to speak ? English, Spanish and French seem to be the most appreciate languages. As an international language, the students would like to speak English. Then maybe because they learn it at school. They understand that Spanish can be usefull too, even if in question 1, part B it was not at first their favorite subject.

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Are you satisfied with the way of living in your country ? Most of the students are quite happy about the way of living in France. It is a good thing because we can see that French people loves their country. There are really few negative answers which shows that nobody feels ill-at-ease.

We can see that the students, 3° or 4°, are not sure of them. They don't know if they will have a better life than their parents. Nobody knows how it will be like. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Do you think you will manage to live a better life than that of your parents ?

The first main issue is unemployment. Educational system comes second, but far behind. So they feel not to have a job. As a positive point, medical support and immigration don’t stand as problems. Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Which are the two most important problems your country has to deal with ?

Teenager Today- European Citizen Tomorrow Do you think the EU can help with the solution of the above mentioned problems ? The most of the answers are uncertain because it's hard to have an opinion about that at 14 years old because the European Union is not something concrete for them. However, there's more positive answers than negative one.
