1 WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF SOCIAL STUDIES!!  My name is Don Gillan  Teacher of 22 years in the public schools.  Principal for 10 years in four schools  Taught religion classes for 12 years  I have either taught, viewed, and/or evaluated at all grade levels, k-12 during that time.  Some of my teaching was in the area of social studies!!

2 GOALS MMMMy goal is to get to know you as a person and future teacher, and help you better understand, appreciate, and enjoy the role social studies plays and how it impacts boys and girls in grades K-8, ages 5-15. Learn & have fun!

3 REQUIRED MATERIALS!  “Dynamic social Studies For Elementary classrooms” By George Maxim - 8 th Edition  Social Studies Packet – (Rapid Print) - $11.00 - An Informational – Resource and Enrichment Packet.  A Selected Social Studies Article For Direct Teaching Lesson.
