3. Introduction: Egyptian Gods
The ancient Egyptians believed in many different gods and goddesses. Each one played their own role in maintaining peace and harmony in Egypt.
Some gods and goddesses took part in creation, floods, protection, or afterlife.
Local gods and goddesses also existed. Some represented towns, plants or animals.
Ancient Egyptians felt it important to recognize and worship these gods and goddesses to maintain a smooth and peaceful life.
