"Home" students There are a limited number of places funded by the Scottish Government for students from the UK and other European Union countries. = > popular programmes= competition => gathered pool International Students Seeking to attract similar calibre of international students. International students: applicants who meet or are predicted to meet the minimum entry requirements are likely to be made an offer for all programmes = > minimum entry requirements = > rolling admissions Exception: medicine The number of medicine places for international students is limited by UK Government restrictions to 7 percent of the total medicine entrants. Consequently, international entry to medicine is also extremely competitive.

Director of Studies - Every new student is appointed a Director of Studies who you meet in Fresher’s week, they are a member of teaching staff from your School who provides you with academic guidance. Study Support - Our Centre for Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) can help you to develop effective learning techniques and run workshops throughout the year on, for example, exam techniques, the transition to university study and writing essays. The students’ association also holds free workshops on subjects such as presentation and communication skills and teamwork. MyEd – the University’s web portal which you can access from anywhere in the world and view information at a glance about things you need to do - for example checking information on the books you’ve loaned from the library, or whether you have new waiting.

Student Experience Arts Performance Academic courses Bedlam Societies Festivals Clearly visible from Edinburgh's Royal Mile in the heart of the city, the Bedlam Theatre is a fully operational 90 seat theatre housed in an imposing neo-gothic church. Video: 3.12 Home to the Edinburgh University Theatre Company, Bedlam is the oldest student-run theatre in Britain. Any member can propose a show for selection by company vote, and all aspects of the production from acting to lighting to taking the tickets are carried out by the student membership. The theatre stages over 40 shows every year. Some are small-scale, one-off lunchtime performances, while others are larger budget, week-long productions known as Mainterms. The Bedlam is also home to Edinburgh's longest-running improv troupe, the Improverts, who play every Friday at 10.30pm during term time and every night at half past midnight during the fringe.
