2 2 About the College The College of Arts & Social Sciences (CASS) includes: Research School of Humanities and the Arts Research School of Social Sciences

3 About the College The largest of the seven Colleges, CASS is made up of: 3936 undergraduate students 600 postgraduate coursework students 700 higher degree research students 314 academic staff 75,000+ alumni 3

6 Majors and minors Choose to study the areas you are passionate about: 24 courses over three years (eight per year – full-time) specialise in two areas called majors and minors - you must complete one major and one minor. Major: sequence of eight courses in a subject area Minor: sequence of four courses in a subject area Electives: choose from a wide range of electives to complement your study.. 6

10 Research pathway - Honours Additional year after completing your bachelor degree Employers regard an Honours degree as a significant extra marker of achievement and potential Most effective way of qualifying for higher degree work at Masters and PhD level Carry out an independent research project under the guidance of a specialist academic supervisor Excellent record in undergraduate studies required for entry into Honours. 10

16 Appealing a Grade If you genuinely believe you have received an inappropriate or incorrect result in a College of Arts and Social Sciences course, there are steps you can take to have that result reviewed.
