3 Nicosia (Lefko ş a) The 1000 year old capital of Cyprus is located in the heart of the island. The city offers a mixture of ancient sites as well as a highly developed infrastructure with a modern look.

4 Nicosia  Lefko ş a is the Turkish name for Nicosia  Capital Population: 240,000 (2009)  Transportation around the city: Public transport, taxi cab & walking  Centrally located so day trips to other cities are easy!  Original city surrounded by an ancient wall  Home to many ancient sites and other exciting places to visit

6 Basic Program Requirements  Good Knowledge of Greek or Turkish  Departments of English French and Modern Language are taught in English and French  School of Modern Greek – aim to teach non-native speakers and foreigners Greek  Application must be submitted from April 1-30 th of entrance year  Submit to Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Services  Visa is required for non-EU students  Contact Cyprus Embassy/High Commission to see if any additional documents are required

8 Required Documents Send to the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Office : 1.Passport sized photo 2.Attested copies of High School Leaving Certificate (Lower & Higher Secondary) mark sheets and other qualifications 3.Attested copy of passport copy  Valid for at least its intended course of study or for two years 4.Attested copy of the Police Clearance Certificate  Valid for no more than 6 months

9 Required Documents Cont. 5.Attested copy of the Bank letter stating that the student's sponsor has the financial ability to support his/her living tuitions and repatriation expenses  Valid for no more than 6 months  Letter must clearly state the amount of €4000 & state relationship with the sponsor  Sponsor may only be father/mother/self 6.Attested copies of the blood test report (HIV Syphilis Hepatitis B C) and the chest X ray report (TB)  Valid for 4 months 7. €85.43 visa fee  Non-refundable application fee If all are submitted to University by August they will submit to the Migration Authorities for approval

10 Arrival Checklist  Non-EU students must show the following at the Immigration Authorities at Larnaca Airport: 1) All above documents submitted during visa interview 2) Original passport with original Entry Visa to Cyprus 3) Cash and /or travelers´ checks for a minimum of €1600 4) Open ticket valid for return to home country.

11 Accommodations:  Apply for housing through the Housing Office in the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service  Limited spaces available  Student Halls on Campus  Some off campus private accommodations available  Cost of Living is High  Around €700 – €1000 per month including rent

12 Grading System  Numerical and  Ranges from 0 to 10 by increments of 0.5.  Minimum passing grade is 5.0.  Grade Point Average calculated on the basis of the average grades for all courses  Final GPA is recorded according to the following scheme:  "Excellent" (8.5 - 10) "Very Good" (6.5- 8.49) "Good" (5.0-6.49)

14 Fun Facts and Travel Tips  Nicosia is one of the last divided capitals in the world!  Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Greek controlled South are divided by the ‘Green Line’  Commandaria, a red wine considered one of the oldest in the world, is made here.  Check with your local doctor to see if any immunizations are needed before you travel!  Pack light cotton clothes for summer months and warmer clothes and rain gear for winter time.  Cyprus is known of playground of the Gods.  People drive of the left side of the road!  Has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
