3. Non-financial motivation  So far we have learnt that: 1. Pay alone does not always motivate staff. 2. Different industries and types of staff may be motivated in different ways. 3. The higher the reward, does not necessarily mean better performance.

4. 5. Job enlargement  Job enlargement means giving the worker some variety in the tasks they do  For example, Mr Hamilton giving me year 12, year 11 and year 10 classes give me more variety but the same level of responsibility.  More of the same?  Perhaps more efficient to use machinery?

6. 7. Team working  Workers might be put in teams depending on their role or ability.  People working in teams will not want to let their team members down  Sometimes groups of workers may receive a bonus for the work they complete as a team.  Some companies may hold social events to build teams.  Virgin Baggage Handlers
