DAO March 2007 - 3 of 9 Spacecraft Unattended Track CONOPs STEREO - Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory Mission STEREO Overview Unattended tracks consisting of tracking and telemetry data, including SSR playbacks, have occurred routinely since January 2007 on both S/C. Unattended track operations will add commanding, anomaly notification, and some additional assessment. Being implemented as planned –Since PDR, it has been planned to move to unattended track operations at launch + 6 months –Will no longer be staffing daily tracks Nearly all tracks will be run unattended, i.e., no one in the MOC. Begins at the start of week 18, Monday, April 30 th, DOY 120, at 0000Z.

DAO March 2007 - 4 of 9 Spacecraft Unattended Track CONOPs STEREO - Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory Mission STEREO Unattended Track Commanding S/C Unattended Commanding –A command must sent to each S/C every 60 hours to prevent a SCLT –Unattended commanding will consist of: »No-op after command modulation enabled »SCB dumped near EOT Instrument Unattended Commanding –Use SCM priority and standard storage at APL for routine instrument commanding »Defined in the MOC/POC and SSC ICD, 7381-9045 »Zero enable time or if current track time is within specified enable/disable command delivery window, then the commands will be sent during that track

DAO March 2007 - 5 of 9 Spacecraft Unattended Track CONOPs STEREO - Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory Mission STEREO Attended Track Commanding Daily real-time instrument commanding ends on April 29 th. –MOC must be staffed to send RT commands for any instrument Real-time commanding will be routinely available one track/week –During business hours, typically on Wednesday depending upon DSN track schedule »Momentum dumps – Operational Constraint »HGA calibrations »Any EEPROM changes, i.e., time and ephemeris updates, parameters, etc. – Operational Constraint »Scheduled instrument RT operations »Weekly UT command load »Special events such as Software patches (Operational Constraint), etc. –DSN Schedule activity field = SSR DUMP/CMD LOAD –Weekly Schedule will have Attended Track in BOT event Remarks POCs can request real-time commanding for future dates at the weekly planning meeting/telecon. –Two week advance notice if you please –Use Instrument Event Schedules data product Contingency real-time commanding can be arranged through phone calls.

DAO March 2007 - 6 of 9 Spacecraft Unattended Track CONOPs STEREO - Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory Mission STEREO Anomaly Notification –MOT is sent a text message for the following alarms and anomaly conditions: »Any fault autonomy rule firing »Not in Operational Mode »Battery SOC < 95% »HGARA disabled »No command acknowledgement for any command »No TLM received after any 20 minute period »IONet or DMZ relay streams unresponsive »Unattended automation (MCP) not running Anomaly Response –Two staff are assigned to respond to anomalies outside of business hours –All MOT will be able to review telemetry/check DMZ remotely –Assessment of anomaly notification remotely will determine response »If assessment justifies contingency commanding, MOT will respond to MOC »Inconclusive assessment will also require response at the MOC »Anomaly assessment indicating no immediate response necessary or insufficient track time to respond will result in a response on the following track

DAO March 2007 - 7 of 9 Spacecraft Unattended Track CONOPs STEREO - Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory Mission STEREO Assessment Post track analysis and assessment: –Daily Alarm report –Trending plots –Review automation Track Summary Statistics email »Verifies number of S/C commands sent »Verifies number of TF received –Review anomaly and event activity logs –Data Summary Table changes –Review As Run Track Plan and update as necessary –Weekend tracks will be assessed on Monday
