Why 1:1 iPads? - ‘Technological change’ is here and won’t go away … - Mobile, connected technology is already in the hands of our pupils … - And parents…

Changing Technology

Why 1:1 iPads? How will it help my child learn? How People Learn is Changing... Technology allows ANYTIME. ANYWHERE LEARNING... - We know technology opens up a world of opportunities. - Allows pupils to go at their own pace. - Allows pupils to share their learning and understanding in many different ways. - Allows pupils to share their learning with more than just their teacher - incentive to produce work to a high standard. - Engaging tool that can be used to support learning in many different subject areas. - Pupils enjoy learning through technology so are more motivated and find it easier to concentrate. It is about changing the child’s learning environment and giving them a new tool in their learning toolbox.

Why 1:1 iPads? How will it help my child learn? 1:1 is about learning, not technology iPads will allow teachers to create learning and teaching opportunities that develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours that pupils require in order to live, learn and work in the 21st century. What are the most important skills our pupils must have in the 21st century? Creative thinking Technology literate Independent researchers Teamwork Communication Self reliance Problem solving

The iPad offers our pupils the opportunity to be both independent and to work collaboratively, it gives them all the knowledge they need, and the ability to present / explain their work in many different ways and to a bigger, world-wide audience. Why 1:1 iPads?

And the research shows... The iPad is relatively new to education but there is no doubt about the benefits it brings... Research has shown that pupils who have access to their own iPad are...  More engaged with the curriculum.  Enthused about the work they do.  Want to explore topics in their own, individual way.  Have greater opportunities for collaboration.  Have greater independence.  Have improved critical thinking.  Have greater access to information, resources and experts.

Our Goals - What do we want to see? - Pupils demonstrating what they know in many different ways. - Pupils taking control in how they learn and what they do to show that they have learned. - Pupils being creative to help them learn. - Pupils having access to the world’s information. - Pupils being able to access the types of resources that will help them learn in the best way possible. - Pupils wanting to learn wherever they are - in school and at home - and involving their family in that learning. - Pupils having digital video recorders, calculators, atlases, newspapers, thesauruses, dictionaries, books, compasses cameras, audio recorders, note pads all in one place.
