6. Cellular Connectivity
The MyCareLink™ Monitor connects right out of the box using the best connection in the area (either 2G or 3G).
There are 2 major systems used for cellular: CDMA and GSM. The MyCareLink™ Monitor will only work using a GSM signal.
Verizon, U.S. Cellular, and Sprint are examples of major carriers using CDMA.
AT&T and T-Mobile are examples of major carriers using GSM.
GSM is the most widely used cellular connection across the globe and covers approximately 90% of the US population.
Usually, only 1 bar of cellular strength is required to complete a transmission.

7. mSTAR 3.0 - Searching for Clinics
As a best practice, you should favorite all the clinics you use consistently. This will streamline your workflow as well as ensure all clinical level overrides are viewable through mSTAR. If the clinic you are looking for is not in your predetermined list for your Region/District/Territory, you can use the search function to find them.

8. REFRESH DATA! Medtronic Confidential - Internal Use Only
After adding the clinic to your favorites, it’s extremely important that you refresh your data for the most up to date clinic information. This will ensure that you see MyCareLink as an option when it becomes available for the selected clinic.

9. Reordering MyCareLink Monitors via mSTAR
Reordering of MyCareLink Monitors distribution follows the same workflow as reordering othere accessories. Activities>replenish>search 24950

10. Complete Billing in mSTAR
For the CareLink enrollment to be sent to CareLink, you must complete the billing cycle within mSTAR by pushing your completed registration to sell trunk/consignment. If you don’t complete this portion, mSTAR will hold onto the enrollment information for 24 hours before sending it to CareLink for enrollment.

11. Make sure you’re connected
Be sure you’re connected to the internet. If you’re not connected and your registration is not submitted, the enrollment will not be sent.

12. Timing from mSTAR to CareLink
Current average is 61 minutes
Includes several outliers of 24 hours due to billing portion not complete
Will continue to drop as 24 hour issue is resolved
Average of 46 minutes without outliers
Today, on average we’re seeing it take 61 minutes for the enrollment to reach CareLink when pushed from mSTAR. There are several 24hour outliers in this group due to the billing portion of mSTAR not being completed. If we take out the outliers, we’re looking at an average of 46 minutes.

13. Reveal LINQ™ ICM Patients Implanted with a Medtronic Device
These patients may keep their same MyCareLink™ Monitor!
Simply follow these easy steps:
Enter the new device serial number into the CareLink® Network – you DO NOT need to enroll them as a new patient!
After this is updated, instruct patient to do one manual setup transmission
Remember to teach your patient how to use
their monitor with their new Medtronic device

14. Software Update Process: When Updates Occur
Software updates may occur:
The first time the monitor is plugged in (as long as the monitor is enrolled in the CareLink® Network)
Every 15 days the monitor will look for any software updates if needed (monitor must be kept plugged in)
A forced update may take place if you unplug the monitor from the electrical outlet, then plug it back into the outlet
Medtronic will typically send updates 2-3 times per year

15. Software Update Process: What Patients Should Do
Important: Patients should not touch the monitor during the update process
Wait approximately 20 minutes, then press the “Accept” button to display the start screen and initiate the interrogation process.
The system should “wake up” from the sleep mode when the “Accept” button is pressed. If the system remains unresponsive after 60 minutes, contact Medtronic Technical Support.
The patient will see the following during a software update:
Depending on the size of the update, the animated Software Update screen displays for about minutes before rebooting.
