2 WHAT IS PROFESSIONALISM?
The standing practice of displaying yourself to others in a presentable manner Distinguishing yourself apart from other individuals with polite etiquette, proper language, exceptional behavior, and appropriate attire BEE-ing a District Board Member Professionalism is so important in our organization because it shows that as leaders, we can participate and converse with each other at a business-level. This emits a sense of maturity and readiness for the years to come as we step into the realms known as college, work, and life. BEEIng on District Board means that you MUST present yourself as a role model for other Key Club members to follow. Making sure that you are presentable, especially on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc., becomes crucial during your term as Lieutenant Governor, appointed Board Member, Executive, club board, division board, and even as members; we not only serve the community, but we also serve as leaders that represent this organization as one of the largest and one of the greatest. As we progress through this powerpoint, you will learn how to act in a professional manner.

3 PROPER LANGUAGE Avoid using slang terms and profanity
Be mindful of your word choice Connotation Proper grammar & spelling Take advantage of that red underline below a word! Think before you say (act)! Know your audience you are speaking to Give correct information Avoiding slang terms and profanity should be utilized in all mediums, both professional and social. Word choice may sometimes imply a connotation not appealing to others. There is a difference between… “Good morning, Governor Jacqueline” AND “Aye yo, DGOV, what up!?!”

4 EXCEPTIONAL BEHAVIOR Make yourself presentable to all who you communicate with Social Media – Be tasteful! Respect those around you Adults / Chaperones / Kiwanians Key Club members BEE on time! Submissions Attendance Present yourself well on social media; be careful of what you post on the web because EVERYONE can see it! There are PEOPLE watching!

5 WORKING WITH YOUR PEERS
Be respectful of every board member Remember to value the time of those you work with Try and understand the situation/position of those around you before you make judgments Family first!

6 ROMANCE IN THE WORKPLACE
Do your best to avoid becoming involved in romantic relationships in the workplace (They can become messy and affect other board members!) If you do happen to become involved, maintain a sense of professionalism at all times If a conflict arises, don’t let it affect your performance as a District Board member Consider your fellow OpportuniBEES as your coworkers!

7 APPROPRIATE ATTIRE What you wear must comply with specified dress code
As leaders, it is expected to dress at the highest level (Dress to impress!) CASUAL Go over various dress codes. Most of the District Board members are probably familiar with it. BUSINESS CASUAL BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL

11 APPEAL THROUGH MARKETING
Effective marketing means you are able to appeal to your audience (Getting members to go to DCM’s/events; promoting the goals of CNH) Marketing yourselves: As a board member of CNH, you are always marketing yourself to others (whether you know it or not) How to market yourself effectively? Maintain professionalism, a friendly attitude, and always promote a positive image of CNH and KCI.

Act as if you were answering questions during an interview! Three Components Proper Language Exceptional Behavior Appropriate Attire Marketing Professional qualities make a lasting impact First Impressions They count! Dress to Impress Brand Protection Company Loyalty As soon as one sees an individual exhibiting professional qualities, they will have no doubt that the person approaching them or communicating with them has a great product or message. First impressions are EVERYTHING! Because marketing Key Club usually occurs when we meet others for the first time, it is absolutely quintessential to make the first impression count! Brand Protection is important because it allows customers not only recognize the brand when it is seen in other mediums, but it also allows us to maintain the integrity and presence of the brand made. Plagiarism is a high offense that may throw you into the dungeon for years to come. Company Loyalty is a test of whether you are truly aware of the skills you have gained through professionalism. Staying loyal to a company means that you are dressed up ready to advertise and showcase the wonderful qualities of your organization. Speaking lowly of your respective brand, company, or product means that you bluntly disrespect
