2 District Cooling Impact on HFC phase out
By introducing District Cooling in a city or a district with floor space of more that sqm Capacity reduction with centralized system -50% due to; redundancy and simultaneously factor Production mix: Financially Optimized system Free Cooling; non HFC base load Heat driven absorption; non HFC base load Large size chillers; 20-30% for peak capacity Alternative refrigerant with no or low GWP (ammonia, HFO-1234ze) 24/7 operation control secure <2% annual leakage Financially Feasible for >25% of AC market in EU* , equal or higher for the global market, WHY? 50% less investment in capacity Additional investment in distribution grids (magnitude; equal to production) 5-10 times more efficient than stand alone equipment ref. EHP-Ecoheatcool study, Sweden today >25%

5 Energy Efficiency Multiples for District Cooling/SWAC systems
Project Energy Efficiency multiple Type Reference 1 Conventional Chillers Lusail, Qatar 2 Centralised chillers / condenser cooling 3 4 5 Stockholm, Sweden 6 SWAC/Hybrid 7 8 Honolulu, US 9-10 SWAC Aruba 10 Paris Chicago Vienna Helsinki Amsterdam 36 Swedish systems Gothenburg Cornell Toronto Note;-In Sweden district cooling/SWAC has a market penetration of >25%

6 Reference Case – Stockholm, Sweden
General Information Stockholm is the capital of Sweden with 1,2 million inhabitants. The first cooling delivery was made in 1995 after initializing the project in 1994. In 2010 the network provided cooling solutions to more than 100 customers and approx 600 buildings with a total demand of 350 MW ( ton) with an output of total 450 GWh. During the main years of investments about 200 M€ where invested Development of project in GWh SWAC & Heat-pump GWh Underground storage 2 km pipline Heat pump Overview of Stockholm district cooling Area . The Stockholm DC system reduce 126,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually compared to conventional chillers
