1 Zebra Technologies: Link-OS Flexible. Smart. Scalable.
Thanks for your time – today I’m going to introduce you to a new environment available only from Zebra – Link-OS. Zebra Technologies: Link-OS Flexible. Smart. Scalable.

2 Gartner: Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2014
Mobility Solutions Mobile Device Diversity & Management Mobile Apps & Applications Hybrid Cloud and IT as Service Broker Cloud/Client Architectures The Era of Personal Cloud Software Defined Anything Web-Scale IT The Internet of Everything Smart Machines 3-D Printing IT Runs the World There are a number of trends we’re watching here at Zebra. Others have spotted them as well – Gartner for example. We’re focused on these five– Mobile Devices & Device Management– It’s amazing how quickly this sector is changing. Remember the Motorola RaZr mobile phone, how it was quickly replaced by the iPhone in 2007? Mobile devices are quickly evolving and setting new user expectations of what a device is and what they can do. At the same time, the explosion of new devices has highlighted the need for robust and flexible device management - at any hour, from anywhere, no matter what the scenario. Mobile Apps & Applications – Users now expect that an app will exist for pretty much any task – and those apps will seamlessly connect back to core business systems. Cloud/Client Architectures – This idea – something that was only a concept a short time ago - has now become part of our daily lives. If you used Redbox, On-Star, Netflix or one of the new NEST thermometers – you’re already a IoT/Cloud user. The Internet of Everything & Smart Machines– Users now expect that devices will just “play nicely” together – and that means every device – phones, televisions, printers – pretty much every device is expected to be connected, integrated and smart. It’s all leading to a new “normal”…. Smarter Devices = Zebra Focus

This allows us to embed our technology in popular third party solutions (like AirWatch) – and create our own apps. Partnerships with our Value Added Resellers, Independent Software Vendors, Alliance partners and Independent Hardware Vendors

6 Link-OS: Components The Link-OS environment is, of course, a family of great printers, but it’s also a set of core apps and features that make Link-OS products the easiest to integrate into existing or new systems, manage from anywhere and use with minimal training. Zebra Confidential

7 Print Touch Print Touch Easy Pairing App Launching Tag Unlock
Software Dev Kit Source Code Documentation Print Touch is a new feature of our Link-OS devices – here’s how it works: A Near Field Communication – or NFC- tag is embedded in the Link-OS device during manufacturing. This tag knows several “things” about the device – specifically it’s: Bluetooth MAC address Wired Network MAC address Wireless Network MAC address The configuration code for the device And the devices serial number The Print Touch tag allows us to leverage that data, so that when a Print Touch enabled Link-OS device and a NFC enabled device are brought together, we can drive a pairing event, trigger the host device to visit a web page with helpful product information – or even an launch app on the hand held device. Print Touch is also flexible – we’ve “virtual locked” the Print Touch tag – so that it can be altered in the field to accommodate creating new experiences and applications. It’s a completely new way for Zebra devices and host systems to interact.

8 Print Touch Value Proposition
Link printer with just a tap Easiest Bluetooth pairing Customizable experience Help is just a touch away First thermal printer with NFC tag The value of Print Touch lies in its ability to link to printers with just a simple tap of a user’s Android device, allowing for the easiest Bluetooth pairing available today. The user experience of Print Touch is fully customizable, and can be programmed to display printer info or technical assistance with just a touch of the devices. Zebra also offers the first thermal printer available with an NFC tag. Print Touch

9 Cloud Connect Cloud-based App Cloud Connect Secure WebLink
Flexible Data collection Firewall friendly Easy for IT to use Simple set up More and more, customers are moving their information systems to the “Cloud” – because it offers them cost savings and increased flexibility. We want to be part of this transformation - so we’ve added the Cloud Connect feature to our Link-OS devices. This allows customers to directly and securely connect Link-OS devices to Cloud based apps – supporting the reasons they moved to the Cloud in the first place. Being a good “Cloud Citizen” will increasingly become an expected product attribute. That’s why we’re including Cloud Connect in our Link-OS products. The applications for this new approach are both familiar and endless – let’s look at one now

10 Cloud Connect Value Proposition
Reduces overall expenses Flexible Multi-Port radio delivers best ROI Centrally managed Aligned to standard IT practices Direct, Secure, Authenticated, Encrypted – IT Friendly The value of Print Touch lies in its ability to link to printers with just a simple tap of a user’s Android device, allowing for the easiest Bluetooth pairing available today. The user experience of Print Touch is fully customizable, and can be programmed to display printer info or technical assistance with just a touch of the devices. Zebra also offers the first thermal printer available with an NFC tag. Cloud Connect

11 The Chicken & The Egg I need the printer on my WiFi network to configure it I can’t get the printer on my WiFi network until I configure it And I have A LOT of devices! Zebra sets customers up to succeed. Solving this after shipping printers is costly One of the hardest issues to solve is what we call the Wireless Chicken and Egg issue. If you want to manage a printer on your wireless network, you can’t do that until it’s on your wireless network. Our Link-OS printers can help resolve this. Here’s how – use a Ethernet connection and a DHCP Server to get the printer on the network – and use our support for DHCP option 43 to both give the printer an network address and give it the address of your Profile Manager Server. Once the printer comes on-line, it will automatically connect itself to your Profile Manager. This will allow you push down the unique profile needed for that printer – including firmware, configurations and even a fixed IP address. 12 Printer Management Today
Send person to each printer Or have printers sent in Purchase and install an app Or write an app Get IT to approve your solution Install client on each device Figure out how to find devices Learn command language Create command files Convert files as needed Figure out how to send files Find when it’s ok to send files Keep “golden files” safe Deal with regular updates Wrangle large scale installs Monitor devices for “events” You potentially have to do multiple or all of the things to manage printers once they are on your network. This can take a lot of time

13 What If Customers Could
MANAGE FROM ANY DEVICE EASILY DISCOVER PRINTERS FIND, FIX & RESOLVE ISSUES VISUALLY CHECK PRINTER STATUS Considering these challenges, what if there was a solution that could allow a customer or client to manage their printers from any device, easily discover printers on their network, find, fix and resolve technical issues and visually check the status of a printer?

14 Manage your printers from anywhere, anytime, via a browser
Profile Manager Manage your printers from anywhere, anytime, via a browser Manage printers individually Manage printers as a group Profile Manager is our latest Device Management offering – Using a web browser interface – and running from a centrally installed site allow Profile Manager to control Link-OS printers throughout your network from one easy to use interface. We’ve loaded Profile Manager with features: Discover printers inside or across subnets Check printer status at a glance – using the main screen’s Notification icons and color coded alerts Quickly access your printers settings for complete device control. Check and change configurations Send files to the printer Retrieve files from the printer Print a config page Group printers by “tagging” them And most importantly – store the configuration of your printer for later retransmission to the unit – or distribution to one or many units. All from a web browser interface. Discovery allows you to easily find and manage any Zebra Link-OS Device on your network Corporate template
