2 Why did OSPI develop the educational technology assessments? Do districts have to use them?

4 OSPI must obtain or develop assessments for the Educational Technology Standards that are  Available to school districts for voluntary use by the end of the 2010 – 2011 school year Districts using the assessments must report this use to OSPI beginning with the 2011 – 2012 including 2014-2015. Speed Racer (3 – 5): Investigate factors that affect speed and apply technology to solve a problem in a racing competition. Cooking Up a Mystery (6 – 8): Use evidence from the lab and the Internet to identify a criminal suspect in a cooking contest and make safety improvements.

30 If you will be posting student work:  Review your district’s Acceptable Use Policy.  Be sure to secure parent permission using a district form or this sample.

31 Choose tools that best match your classroom equipment, access, and student needs. Coordinate with IT staff to ensure the tools you want to use are not blocked by the district Internet filter.
